Where is everyone?

Wow, no posts in over 24 hours on this normally busy forum. Just checking to see if the site is working!

Not as many posts on b-van thread as normal in 24 hours. I'm on the road to Florida so things are quiet on my end.

I tend to post a lot less when I'm camping than when I'm not. After all, who in their right mind goes camping to play on the computer?

I was at Buccaneer State Park, Waveland, MS for the holiday weekend. Nice place, heavily damaged by Hurricane Katrina, but coming back nicely. The most popular loop seems to the the "Treasure Cove" loop at the very back of the park, which is also the loop with the best tree cover. For the Veterans Day weekend, the Treasure Cove loop was mostly full, but most of the other loops were mostly empty.

Did you take any pictures while at Buccaneer?
I have always heard it was a wonderful campground.
We were in Biloxi the week before at Majestic Oaks RV Resort. It was awesome.
We drove through Gulf Shores National Seashore at Ocean Springs and it was pretty cool.
We also drove through Shepard State Park at Gautier. it was nice.
the Gulf Coast has endless nice campgrounds.

No pics. Even had a camera with me, but I still completely forgot. The park is well worth a visit, though.

As previously stated, the Treasure Cove loop has the most tree cover, being farthest away from storm surges that could knock them down. Some of the other loops such as the "Jean Lafitte" loop closer to the main gate look more like lawns, no tree cover to speak of. The "Port and Dock" loop right at the front of the park has a view of the Gulf, but no one at all was camping in that loop when I arrived.

Campsites tend to be packed in about four sites per acre in each loop (more like 6 per acre in the "Port and Dock" loop, though), but it doesn't feel like you're crowded.

The water park was closed for the winter, and I was too busy vegetating and growing moss on my north side to hit the nature trail or the disk golf course.

In order to reach the park in the first place, you have to drive right along the seawall with the Gulf of Mexico sometimes only a dozen feet away. Which can be messy if there's a strong south breeze kicking up waves and blowing sand and salt spray onto the road, but it was fine last weekend with winds out of the north.

I did notice some odd behavior yesterday. Periodically, I would see no posts for 1/2 to 1 hour. Then they would appear. This was on 2 different PCs. Seems fine since yesterday evening.
