What was wrong with gravity?

We just picked up a lightly used 2016 Interstate EXT GT. We are having trouble emptying our waste tanks. The hose comes out, the valves open, the pump turns on but we get nothing. Visual inspection has confirmed that the black tank is full. Does anyone here have any ideas of what I might do to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance.

CHATOOGA11 - Given everything you said ( I have to take your word for it that all valves (black blade & end of discharge hose valves) are open, hose reel completely unwound BUT not kinked at the connector fittings, and macerator motor runs - then you got a blockage in the plumbing. It's as simple as that. So double check everything you said is working or start working your way up the plumbing to locate the blockage

I will just venture to guess that your macerator hose reel is kinked, at least that's what lot people do to it when storing too fast and not checking carefully when unwinding or unwinding too far that it folds over itself. If I am wrong, then go put on a hazmat suit coz it gonna be a dirty job.

Is the valve at the end of the hose, the one that goes on the threaded cap into the dump hole, also open?

Do not ask me how I know about that one...

If black tank is full and valves are open - it sounds like you have some blockage in the tank outlet. A messy job to clear - for sure.

Hi

No matter what you do with a blocked tank, it's going to be a mess (as mentioned multiple times above). The question then becomes - where do you make the mess at? Some dump stations are set up to drain into a common point. Blocking one up for an hour or two while you disassemble everything may not make you popular Doing it somewhere else is likely to lead to crazy cleanup issues.

One (also messy) alternative is to pump out the tank before you start trying to address the blockage. That's not easy to do, but it may be the least nasty of a number of nasty options. Air driven diaphragm pumps are generally the best option ( = what I've used in the past). Even they plug up and need to be cleared (no it's not fun ...). They can be rented .....

I mention it because it happened to me yesterday when we got here

Everything was open switch on... I can hear the macerator, but nothing was coming out... I checked hose, took it all out to make sure there were no kinks...

Then it hit me... valve at the end of the hose was shut

Normally, I would be a tad displeased with someone who asks for immediate help and then does not monitor their feed regularly, but in this case, I prob. allow some leeway because . . .

I just hope it's not the worst case scenario coz I'd hate to be in OP shoes.

Let's just hope he is wearing waders and not flip flops.

When you said "pump" I assume you are speaking of a macerator. When I installed my maserator (which is the coolest thing ever), I wired it backwards. {Don't know if it was me, or the exiting wiring, but no matter.} The pump worked but in reverse. I simply switched the two wires and problem solved.

Hope this helps.
