I sent the author an email which furthered the topic, as her understanding was naturally rudimentary. Plus I gave her a link to one of my mainstream news media op-eds about employed professional boomers working from the road.

I just googled "wsj vanlife" and the article link worked. Pretty good article. We attended the Rubber Tramp Rendezvous in Quartzite in January and saw many cool conversions and people of all ages. About 4000 people attended, and about 80% of those were over 40. Vanlife definitely isn't the 20-something crowd. They just get the attention because they can't help sharing pictures of every aspect of their lives.

I can’t get to the wsj article, their website recognizing my address and wanting me to sign up for a subscription.

However, just googling “van life”, there is a lot out there about the trend of living full time in a B-Van.

This website is interesting....

https://kombilife.com/van-life/

Personally, at my age I can’t imagine living full time in my Interstate, tho traveling up to 4 months at a time...even when there were still two of us, plus Lily ...has been eminently doable.

It’s interesting that over the last couple of decades van traveling/living has evolved into what it is now....from mostly “hippies” to all manner and ages of people, working on the road and retirees.

Those of us here and elsewhere, who have been writing about the ease, efficiency and economy of Class B travel, have undoubtedly contributed to the surge in van popularity.

Good for us, good for everyone else who has taken their dreams in hand and made them a reality.

Maggie

Read too attended the rubber camp rendezvous (RTR), and since it also had an article published nationally in the New York Times, we can only assume the 4000+ attendees will blossom next January!

Here is a permalink to Class B Forum where someone pasted the text of the WSJ article, for those who are thwarted by the paywall.
