Turning on water heater

My husband has 'misplaced' the Airstream quick start manual. I'm hoping we find it soon. We've now had our 2012 Interstate for 39 days! Having lots of fun with it. We were going to take it out this weekend, and it would be neat to have warm water. How do we turn on the hot water heater? Thanks Annie

Go to look under service. They have your manual online. It will probably come in handy again.

Assuming yours is like my the control cupboard, above the generator control is a panel with two switches, one has a lightning bolt which is for the electric element, the other switch has a flame symbol for gas. If you are hooked to power, just turn on the electric switch.

Otherwise turn on the gas switch. You will see the lamp glow red....pre-light phase, go off, lighting....if it comes back on you may need to turn it off for a few seconds and try again. When the flame is on you will be able to hear it.

Hope this helps. I type slow so if this isn't enough, I bet you can find a good video on you-tube,

And to add to Fonman's update, make sure you have fresh water in the tank, the pump is on, and water flows from the hot side of the tap. Ie you have filled the hot water tank.

And to add one more check, make sure the hot water tank bypass valve is not in the bypass position or the tank won't fill. The HW bypass is located under the rear lounge (if you have the lounge model) and behind the black partition. Mine has a red/orange handle.
Glass half full or half empty to an engineer is simply a glass that was over designed.

PM me for sale info on my 2011. SOLD!

And don't forget to use the propane the gas valve needs to be ON. If its like the 2014/13 there is this black box behind the right wheel. Unscrew the knob on the front (don't remove it) and the door drops down and inside on the forward panel there should be a toggle switch. This needs to be ON for the propane tank to operate.

And OH yes, make sure you have ample propane. Inside the main controls panel there is one for checking your "levels" of all tanks, including propane.

The manual for my 2013 says that if you have electric hookup, you can turn on BOTH the electric water heater element and the propane "…for faster recovery." You don't run out of hot water in the middle of a shower.
