Towing fudge factor

So the Interstate 3500 is rated to a maximum Tongue weight of 750 lbs. How safe would it be or not be if I towed a trailer that was 833 lbs. of tongue weight? The trailer overall weighs 6,000 and the Sprinter is rated at 7,500.

It's a little like asking the question, "if the gun instructions say 'do not point gun in direction of anyone', how dangerous will it BR if I point it at my head?" Some folks learn by reading, some by observing, and a few just have to pee on the electric fence....twice

Tongue weight should be 12% of trailer weight. A 6K weight trailer should have a tongue weight of less than 700 lbs. If you can move some ballast from the front of the trailer to the rear you may be able to achieve the 12% objective and be within the rated range of your hitch. Once you're at 12% then use WD bars to trim the rig.

Eastern South Dakota is very pretty with hills, rivers, and trees.
