Amazing, all of my questions and uncertainties being addressed in one thread that started with a narrow inquiry.

Thanks very much for the generator and propane insights. From Onan data I had estimated 19 hours of a/c on each fill, so imagined that I would need to refill every two days. Not great, but since travel between homes will be mostly spring and fall, perhaps the MaxxFan will often be enough.

When I first read about it, it struck me as being like a Diaper Genie for adults (without the actual diapers). Now, it's been a number of years since I've changed an average of seven diapers per day, but I will say that the original Genies did not live up to their odor-free hype. Not even remotely. The problem was that, in order to get any lifespan whatsoever out of the cartridges, they had to make the encapsulating plastic really thin, or else it would be too bulky, and one would spend an inordinate amount of time changing (expensive) cartridges. Hopefully for the sake of consumers, they have solved that problem in analogous devices by this time.

The Laveo is sold through channels including Home Depot, and numerous independent reviews can be found online. Lack of awareness about this product seems to be the major factor behind criticism of my intention to substitute it for the OEM black water system. I anticipate that as knowledge of the product disseminates, my intention will become commonplace among owners who use their AIs for transport rather than accommodations.

don000 - after reading all your responses I think you are on the right track to buy an Interstate and modify it for your desired use. That pretty much what I did. After looking at all the B-van RVs available to me in 2013 the Interstate was a clear winner. It wasn't perfect but I knew I could modify it to better suit my needs.

Best of luck as you become an Interstate owner.

Thanks for the reassurance, Mike. Having at one time owned a cabinet and millwork shop, it's striking to me how much better resolved the AI interior trim is than any comparable upfit. The overall effect is much like a corporate private jet, and it's clear that I'd never be able to achieve this with a custom van at anything approaching the cost.
