Tire rotation and ESP warning message

While driving around Denver yesterday I had 2 messages pop up for a brief while which have since disappeared.

1) an image of a Tire with arrows going along the tread pattern, and

2) an ESP system malfunction warning

Both requiring a visit to the workshop

They were on for 2 start and stop cycles and now they're gone.

Anybody know if they are supposed to stay on if it's an issue, or do they go off if the computer reset itself

It says what they mean but it doesn't say whether they stay on or not. Being July 4 I can't raise anyone at local Denver area Mercedes dealer

Those warnings can come on briefly if the vehicle gets deflected by a cross wind. So my assumption is that it's very sensitive to a difference in rear tire rotation on each side. And it must be able to differentiate between driving along a straight road at speed, or turning a sharp corner, or wheelspin. I've experienced it on a very windy Interstate, and it went off after a few seconds.

If warnings clear after restarts it generally means problem no longer exists. But always best to check with dealer when they are open next week. Also try calling Mercedes roadside assistance, they might be able to tell you something about that warning.
