I should have qualified that answer a bit. Below is a quote from my thread on installing a Dill TPMS system in my 2013 Interstate:

"On taking the AI to my local tire guy, we soon discovered an issue with the Alcoa wheels. These wheels use a larger valve stem than standard. I called Dill Air Controls and discovered that they do make a larger valve stem. However, it would not work on the Alcoa wheels as the only one they make extends out about an inch and then has a 60 degree turn that is 2.5" from the bend. This valve stem would not work on either the front or rear wheels. The Dill service rep (very, very helpful) went to his engineers who recommended using a banding mounting system. This required buying four bands and the receptacle for the transmitter. Only four were needed as the inside rear wheels are Mercedes OEM wheels which use standard size valve stems."

Here is a link to my thread.

Mike - Unit arrived today in good order.

I had it unpacked and transducers coded in 20 minutes here at home.

Later in the day at our storage lot, I installed the sensors and powered up the receiver. I'd say within 15 minutes they had all paired up and registering pressure and temperature.

So all is well. Thanks for the great support, fast shipping and great service.

Much obliged.

[QUOTE=Boxster1971;1672446]+1 on the TST System. I have that system with the screw-on flow-thru sensors. Only draw back is the batteries need to be changed every year. The customer service with the TST folks in Georgia is great.

This 507 flow-through system looks great. I note that the kit includes a hard wire connection possibility. Has anyone mounted the monitor onto/into an approximate 2' x 2' panel, such as I'm building to replace the forward TV set? I plan to include the GPS and various engine and battery/solar guages, etc. to this panel. Open to ideas and experiences, as well as wondering how the antenna would work in such a setup.

Thanks,

Mike

Why would you want tire pressure gauge, GPS and any engine gauge mounted where the front TV is now? They wouldn't be visible while driving. Or am I missing something?

Looks like he has a 1991 Class "A" Mike. Maybe he has some kind of an in-dash tv that he is replacing.

Looks like that's the answer. Getting rid of that beast will get a lot of weight off the front end.

Thanks Bill - I see now that comprose has a 1999 31' Land Yacht. Yes I do recall they had a TV way up front in the dash area.

In reply to comprose - yes having all those items in view while driving is nice. I have an Ultra-gauge display, showing six engine parameters, mounted on a ProClip mount to the left of the steering wheel. I use another ProClip mount on the right side for my iPhone 6+ as a second GPS navigator using the Copilot app. It responds much faster than the Kenwood/Garmin GPS navigation. I mounted my TST tire pressure/temp gauge near the middle of the dash just above the drivers storage shelf on a custom mount made from a large binder clip. I'll have to dig up a picture of my displays.

Mike,
Would really like to see pictures of how you mounted the displays. For me this will be a multi-phased task, but I want to pre plan the layout. What I'm wondering about is if there are mounts that can be used to install these instruments, dials, etc.

Here is an overview of my dash, starting on the left is the Ultra-Gauge in a ProClip mount; then on upper right of steering wheel is my custom mount for the TST TPMS display; the my iPhone 6+ using Copilot app for navigation and then the Kenwood Garmin map display. I'll also attach a few close ups of the mounts. Click image for larger version

I just wanted to jump in and out fast on this Thread just to relay an experience on the Interstate south of Albuquerque, NM.

An Airstream was pulled over on the side of the highway. A frustrated family staring at a flat tire. We stopped to help. The man had broken a socket trying to remove his flat tire. One of those "Up the Creek without a Paddle" moment in time.

I carry everything in our Airstream to tighten a loose cabinet screw, to replacing wheel bearings with grease, NEW in the box bearings and runs. A repair shop on wheels kinda guy.

His flat tire looked new. I provided by break bar and socket as the loose chrome lug nut cover was getting pretty chewed up and useless. No sign of nail puncture or damage. Then I noticed something....

He had these things screwed to the air stems for relaying tire pressure to the tow vehicle. This gizmo on all four tires. This pressure sensor slowly was letting the tire deflate... thus creating the flat tire. Maybe he is following this thread after five or six years ago having this problem. Myself... when I get a flat tire from a puncture, I check the wear and if more than 50%... they all get replaced. This does not help knowing your tire pressure every second on the trip... but sometimes the cure is the problem.

Yes Ray - improperly installed pressure sensors can cause a flat. Also if installed on rubber valve stems that flex and cause a leak from the weight of the sensors.

Many thanks, Mike. I only wish that the dashboard on my 1999 was as clean and had the space you have. The pictures are helpful, however.

Best for the season!

Here's my setup: My TST tire monitor is to the left of the instrument pod on a Proclip mount. To the right of the pod is my Garmin RV760 GPS, also on a Proclip, which I use exclusively for navigation. The Kenwood is dedicated to audio and bluetooth communication. This setup has worked well for us for the 2 1/2 years we have had our coach. I particularly like being able to take the Garmin into my house, plan trip routes on my computer & download them into the Garmin

Two more pics of my setup. The 1st pic shows the Garmin RV760 Mount which is comes with a ball mount that bolts directly to the Proclip. I gathered the cable and secured it in the dash tray. The traffic receiver portion of the cable is tie wrapped to the top of the Proclip mount. The 2nd photo is the mount for my TST Monitor. I used a portion of the OEM mount that comes with the Monitor, cutting off the portion that the monitor slides onto. Need to leave enough meat so a bolt won't pull thru then simply drilled and bolted this to the Proclip.

Therein lies part of his problem. The lug nut covers are to be removed before removing the lug nuts.

We have TST TPMS on our trailer and have been very happy with it.

That said, here's something else that can cause a flat: If you accidentally whack a sensor that's screwed onto the end of a valve stem, it can spring a nice slow leak. This happened with two of our sensors, once via the handle of the torque wrench we use to ensure proper tightness of the trailer lug nuts.

So, let's be careful out there.
