In a visible spot. Most seem to be mounted on dash or windshield.

Yup. External sensors just screw on like large valve caps. Turn till air stops leaking then another 1/2 turn should do it. There are little rubber seals inside that fit against the end of the valve stem. Don't over-tighten (no wrench or pliers required) as this can distort or tear the rubber seal.

Mike - I need a basic 4 tire tpms; the ST507 on your site supports 22 tires at $259.

Do you have a less elaborate sensor unit that will work for only 4 tires at lower cost, or is the $259 unit the lowest price point you have?

Thanks...Rich

The Dill and other brands will work perfectly on an Interstate, but...
You must dismount the tires to mount the tire sensors. It would be best to wait till you are buying new tires anyway.

You can bust the bead and put internal sensors in without totally dismounting a tire. I had a tire shop do that to put in metal stubbies for me.

That won't work on the Alcoa wheels on the Interstate.

I should have qualified that answer a bit. Below is a quote from my thread on installing a Dill TPMS system in my 2013 Interstate:

"On taking the AI to my local tire guy, we soon discovered an issue with the Alcoa wheels. These wheels use a larger valve stem than standard. I called Dill Air Controls and discovered that they do make a larger valve stem. However, it would not work on the Alcoa wheels as the only one they make extends out about an inch and then has a 60 degree turn that is 2.5" from the bend. This valve stem would not work on either the front or rear wheels. The Dill service rep (very, very helpful) went to his engineers who recommended using a banding mounting system. This required buying four bands and the receptacle for the transmitter. Only four were needed as the inside rear wheels are Mercedes OEM wheels which use standard size valve stems."

Here is a link to my thread.

Mike - Unit arrived today in good order.

I had it unpacked and transducers coded in 20 minutes here at home.

Later in the day at our storage lot, I installed the sensors and powered up the receiver. I'd say within 15 minutes they had all paired up and registering pressure and temperature.

So all is well. Thanks for the great support, fast shipping and great service.

Much obliged.

Rich
