Tire Pressure Gauge
Hi All,
What type of tire pressure gauge do you use on your Interstate with dual rear wheels?
Thanks,
SGT DAVE

SlimeŹ® digital dual-chuck truck pressure gauge. Push to check the inside tires, pull to check the outside tires.

Welcome to the forum.
Here's what I got. Tire gauge
Checked against a known good digital and put red-line at 65 psi. It was only 1 psi off. YMMV

Some of the Interstate was even made in the USA, like the rooftop vent fan, the generator, and the solar panel. With that in mind, as long as it's accurate, and measures in PSI that I am familiar with, it doesn't much matter where my tire pressure gauge was made.

Made my own 25 years ago that allows me to add or drop pressures. Parts were about $40 and it is accurate as well as easy to read.

Nice, but for the duals on an Interstate, we'd need a double chuck. Or valve extensions. I recently opted for the extensions, but used the double chuck for the first year of ownership.

Were the extensions U-shaped?

Inside extensions were straight. Outside extensions were J-shaped.

I called a couple tire shops last year to see if I could get my tire guages checked for accuracy and they all said they had no way to check for me so I just put it off. This morning I decided I better get it done so I put together a manifold with an expensive accurate guage. I checked a tire on my truck and it had 60psi. I checked the tire pressure with the 2 guages with hoses and my reading was 65psi with both. Then I checked the tire pressure with the 2 short guages and they both read 55psi. Lastly I checked the tire pressure with the long guage just below the manifold in the pic and it read 60psi. That guage is the most common guage in tire shops, I remember them when I was a kid. So that one is the one I recommend and use.

That's quite a swing, 10 lbs!
Now I'm going to look at the gauges I have and see how closely they agree.

rcarl,
Are those valves on each side of the liquid guage?
Who manufactures the long tire guage in the center?

It looks like the Milton gauge referenced in post #4. Or like the knock-off one I got from Harbor Freight.

Where did you find the J-shaped extension?
My inner dual has a straight extension, just not long enuf for standard gauge to reach.

All of the extensions came from the parts department at Foley RV Center, A/K/A Airstream of Mississippi. Brand name is Wheel Masters®. The straight extensions are aluminum, and longer than the plastic ones that came with the Interstate.
The J-shaped extensions are aluminum as well, coupled with additional straight extensions to lengthen the long side of the J. Now all of my valve stems are reachable with a standard chuck air hose; no need for a double-chuck. That means that, on the road, I can air up at any service station, and don't have to look around for a truck stop.

Yes those are high pressure needle valves.
All the tire guages in the pic are 20yrs old, Milton brand.
