Wife put down a small rug that just fits to protect from scuffs. Take out for showers.

We use our AS as a daily driver and have never used the shower. More then any practical advantages or disadvantages of a teak mat, I think the bathroom looks and feels cheap. Considering it's entirely white plastic this is no surprise. Also, the floor shows dirty very easily and always looks grimy in my opinion.

TeakWorks4U Shower Mat Template

Thanks to Bill, I have the template for the teak shower mat for the interstate. I was satisfied with the fit-up and have ordered one today. If anyone one else in interested, call Amber @ 866.969.8325 and let her know that you want one. (Teak Bath Mats, Teak Shower Benches, Teak ADA Shower Benches : TeakWorks4u)

My particular rig is a 2012 Interstate EXT Lounge model. If you are concerned about fit-up for your rig, I can send the template to you for fit-up once it is returned to me in a couple of weeks. If you have the same model as me, or believe that the shower pan in yours is the same shape, you can call Amber and order one today.

I went with the plantation teak (~ $30 more if I recall correctly) for the only reason that it would get here quicker.

jquayle, you didn't get the ceramic tile and gold faucet option?

Our concern was stepping into a fiberglass shower with street shoes on and scratching up the floor. With the teak mat, that is not a concern as it can easily be cleaned or refinished.
And, ya know, we all have different needs and wants....it's a good thing.

We slip our shoes off at the door of the Interstate, also at the door of our stick house. Was our practice long before we had our shiny, silver, travel thingy, and keeps dirt and crud out of the interior.....including the bathroom. That's another discussion.

The worst debris in the bathroom for us is......you guessed it!....dog hair. Lily doesn't go in the bathroom, of course, but we track her hair in on our bare feet.

There also seems to be a phenomenal amount of lint.

Every day, vacuum or wipe it up. If there was a mat there, I wouldn't see it as readily and it would be a weekly thing.

Again, each to his own. A teak shower mat is just not for us.

I'm with you Maggie. We don't take our shoes off at the door (although I may slip into a pair of driving mods.) But one of the things I have liked about the shower compartment is how easy it is to clean. Just hose it out and maybe a quick spritz with "Scrubbing Bubbles" solution. Teak mats look nice and may feel good underfoot, but to my way of thinking they are just one more thing to collect dirt and has to be cleaned and cared for.

But it would be a very dull and uninteresting world were it not for differences of opinion and taste. I am always surprised at how many people do not share my taste for Scottish bagpipe music.

If we all wanted bare bones RVs, none of us would have paid the premium we did for the interstate. ;-)

For me as a first time RV owner and seeing what some of the other Class B offerings had for a shower in the aisle, I thought the enclosed plastic shower/bath was a step up.

Yep, the aisle shower used to be state-of-the-art.

Teak mat arrived yesterday. Couldn't be happier with the quality and fit.

I know some here think its a bit if a luxury item, but I think it makes the bathroom look much nicer. The bathroom floor always showed every spec of dirt and nobody likes the feeling of being in a dirty bathroom.

Wife loved it.

Thanks for the recommendation and the template!

It is a luxury item, and we all have them in one way or another.

We don't all have to need and want the same things, do we?

If you love it, and the wife loves it, that is what is most imoortant.

Travel safely,

Maggie

We've made a template from the one that Bill sent us. There is no need to ship the other template around, unless you want to double check that it will fit. Just call us and let us know that you would like to order a mat for your Airstream Interstate. We'll get it made and shipped to you. Also, let us know if there are any questions, we are trying to make this as easy as possible for anyone interested.

Teak Shower Mat

@c21bill that is exactly what I want... Not to use while showering but to have something to stand on that sits above any water accumulation until I can get to more level ground to drain. Thanks for sharing 😊

There has got to be someone other than teakworks - $172 for 27FB seems way excessive!

We love ours. Well made and adds another level of class to the bathroom

Very glad to have seen this thread a few months ago. It got me to ordered it right away.

It's not. The Airstream Life store sells one, but charges $229 for it!

Well, there's always the BORG (Big Orange Retail Giant) version which is not teak but which I have enjoyed very much for the whopping price of $25. Plus I got to use the rubber scraps for other useful purposes such as lining the bottom of the lithium battery corral. Blog post with details.
