T1N AI spotted for sale

I just saw this on Craigslist (Bellingham, WA)
It looks pretty darn nice in the pics.

https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/6106673524.html

Passing it along for any interested. If someone seriously interested I could possibly make a trip, but several hours and a ferry ride away from me.

Well loved to look that good after 12 years and 157,000 miles.

That's probably the highest-mileage Interstate I've ever seen in the resale market. And yet another color scheme that I didn't previously have on file (I keep sales records).

He has it priced fairly. Ordinarily I'd say it should be higher than that, but probably not with that mileage, even though those of us who understand T1Ns know that it should have a lot of life still left in it.

Yes, I like the colour. (Not crazy about rear bath)
Price seems very good to me, if it looks good in person and no big issues. I certainly paid way more (but 35k miles, loads of add-ons and superb condition)

Never seen that color before but it appears to have been cared for and I think it's priced well. I too am not crazy about the rear bath but I like the idea of potentially having a swivel on the driver's seat.

Looks almost identical to our friend Jannie's 2004.
The floor plan/layout is identical.
The paint job is slightly different.
Jannie's is badged Freightliner rather than Dodge.

Another, this one of the rare RS configuration. I sent the seller an email telling him that he was underpriced IMO.

Another one, a 2004 for sale by our flipper (the guy who sold us ours). We found him to be an honest guy.

This one will be entertaining, as it's no reserve currently bid to ten grand. Relatively high mileage but the condition doesn't look that bad.

Curiously, it appears to be missing its ground effects. The earlier T1Ns didn't have the wide running boards, but they definitely had something in the way of trim. I have pictures of other ones of this type (I nicknamed this model the "cherry belly") and they don't look like this.

This AI (T1N) is a sibling to mine without the changes to chassis, Solar, too many upgrades to list and it sold for just over $40,000. Fair price for a well maintained Interstate. AEW

Andy Ikerd (our flipper) has found another one, a 2004 Freightliner-plated rear bath which he is offering on eBay at $44,900. Appears to be in excellent condition, but with few if any mods or upgrades.

I'm curious as to where he struck pay dirt this time (he scours the country looking to pick up older Interstates) because in a few of the pics, I can see that there's another T1N Interstate parked right behind it, a Dodge-plated, LOL.

Ah, the camping season is coming to a close for many people (just starting for us in the Deep South), and more units are coming on the market.

This one is interesting - I believe that this is the first time I've seen that color of Ultraleather in an Interstate. I like it.

Oh wow, what a coincidence! You'll like Andy - he's a good guy. Three years ago he knew less about the specific quirks of older Interstates than he does today. We had a couple of surprise issues re: things we had to address post-sale, but we were able to meet in the middle and resolve those to everyone's satisfaction.

Liked Andy, not so much the AI. Needs a lot of work. Mostly minor stuff that is to be expected on a vehicle of this age. It runs great. We will keep looking.

If you are a regular reader on this subforum, you may already know about the Repairs tab on my blog. This is where I have tried to accumulate most of the knowledge base for those things that can go wrong with a T1N Interstate - all of which were missed by our third-party inspector prior to our purchase.

That's not to say that those things HAVE gone wrong or WILL go wrong with every T1N Interstate, but it's the only reference of which I am aware for the specific model. You (and other shoppers) should especially pay attention to the plumbing repairs we had to make post-sale. If nothing else, any damage found could be used as price negotiation point on a used Interstate sale.

Thanks for that link. I’m not a frequent reader here, but am now! We are bidding on the Interstate located in Az with the red stripe. We are both reading your blog in depth, nice to have a pioneer blazing trails for us.

We had a laugh about you having to drive 600 miles from Houston to Memphis. We drove 500 miles from our home to Memphis and we live in Tennessee! It was a long two days.

You might want to ask the owner of the garnet stripe why he only kept it for two months (he discloses that in his eBay description). It's a nice rig, and it's going to be on a 2006 Sprinter, which is a very strong-running truck. The reputation of the 2006 is one of the reasons why my husband and I have put so many thousands of dollars of upfit into what is otherwise an 11-year-old motor vehicle... most models of that age are by now in such degraded condition that they wouldn't justify the investment.

Every Class B of this age is going to have some problems. But there's a big financial difference between having to replace an entire plumbing system and having to maybe swap out a toilet or a refrigerator.
