Hi! Welcome to the forum!

T1N is the type of Mercedes Sprinter 2500 that the first generation of Airstream Interstates were built on (model years 2004-2007). Interstates plus the sister product which is called a Parkway.

NCV3 is the next-gen Sprinter 3500, the one currently used, and used since the 2008.

Basically "2500" means it has four wheels. "3500" means it has six wheels. There are six-wheeled T1Ns and four-wheeled NCV3s in existence, but Airstream didn't upfit any of those. Yet.

The T1N Interstates were produced in lower numbers - they are more rare. This thread got started for the purposes of general sales sightings chatter.

Oh, but they did! The new "Shorty" is on a NCV3 2500. I have laid hands on one.

I said “yet”. Technically they are not available yet.

Oh, but Airstream DID upfit one, regardless of whether any have reached the dealers. Actually, they have upfitted several, including at least one Tommy Bahama.

If I recall

T1N stands for
Transporter 1 New

NCV3
New Concept Van 3

I believe the original ‘Sprinter’ was the T1 (transporter 1)

Yes, and the strange thing is that MB itself does not use those terms. T1Ns are actually the 900 series in their lingo, corresponding to some part of the VIN, but not the chassis number, and not any number that appears on the original datacard - it is some internal number they use. IIRC, mine is a 903 (Dodge-plated).

Edit: Here it is; I just scraped this out of the Maintenance thread from last year.

"MB calls the T1N a 904, or, if it's Dodge-plated as ours is, then it is called a 903, whereas NCV3s are generally called 906, with all those numbers deriving from a portion of the corresponding VINs. MB and the aftermarket communities speak different dialects - when I utter the term "T1N" in the MB service bay, nobody knows what the hell I'm talking about."

Good info. To carry it further the New Concept Van 3 (NCV3 from 2009-2018) Sprinters are know in Daimler/Mercedes as model 906. The latest iteration Sprinter was dubbed VS30, but I have no idea yet what that means. The new VS30 Sprinter is model 907 for the rear wheel drive. But model 910 for the front wheel drive version that we wont see in USA/Canada.

I suspect the term T1N, NCV3 and VS30 were internal codes used during development then given conventional model numbers once in production.

I am simply unable to predict what strategy this seller will adopt next. It didn't sell in the 40's and so they thought they'd have better luck by doubling the price...?

I've never seen this one before. Are you thinking about the 2006 we first looked at?

Now that I see full-size pics on my computer, it might not be. It's one of Andy's, so I thought it was a re-post.

I don't know where the owner got those wheels. That's what jumped out at me as being different with this one.

Never seen any wheels like that for sale.

This interior is different from the "van that wouldn't sell". It was also a 2006 if I remember right.

I chuckled when I saw this new listing for a rare green-back, because it reminded me of a former Air Forums user who is no longer with us. (Oh, he's very much alive, just not in THIS space.)

His pet peeve - the issue that bugged him above all others - was the peeling letters that Airstream used on some of the earlier Interstates. His attitude was like, "Come onnnn!!! You guys have so little pride in your build quality that you can't even get YOUR OWN NAME right?! Aaaaaauuuughhhh...."

LOL

Edit: This rig is listed in Houston. If anyone on this forum is seriously interested in it, I could potentially preview it on your behalf. Serious inquiries only, please.
