One thing I've used that really works well is little white rubber shims that are actually designed to level toilets. They can be found in any hardware store. Give them a try, they are cheap and work great!

My brand new 2015 AI Ext rattles like a can full of marbles. I am not mechanically inclined but would gladly pay a professional to perform this scope of work on my 2015 AI EXT. Does anyone know of an Airstream Interstate specialist who does this type of work. I am located in Baton Rouge, LA but could pay someone to travel here or bring RV to them if close enough. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

If you are not mechanically inclined, it may a good time to try and become MI.

It really isn't hard to chase down "most" of what squeaks or rattles in these vans unless yours is worse than most.

I found 2 of the biggest offenders were the bathroom door and the Max Fan vent screen. On my van, I put some felt cabinet bumpers inside the bathroom door extension and leave the expandable part, expanded. On the max van vent screen, i had to take the 4 plastic holders that go into the recessed portion of the max fan and turn them slightly so that they Do Not sit perfectly into the recessed areas. This applies a little more pressure and stops the rattling.

So, get up off the couch , go out to your van and start your derattling

I also found it's easier to find the offending noises if someone else is driving.

The biggest source of rattles for me when my AI was new was the microwave. I removed the wire metal stand and wrapped a cloth around the glass tray and that silenced the microwave.

As the driver and not a passenger of my unit I can't tell if my major rattle is the rear panels or the rear windows. I'll try to get someone to drive it and see.

Thank you all for the tips. I will be working on her rattles today.

Squeaks revisited!

Another big thank you to Jeff64, whose detailed write up I followed to the letter to cut down on the rattles in my AI 2014.5. Additionally the most annoying squeaks on my rig are coming from the sliding door and the plastic gray cover of the toilet vent pipe and today I finally solved them. Apparently the thick padding on the sliding door put quite a bit of pressure on the gray plastic panel, you can see and feel the indentations on the padding, which acts like a drum to amplify any rubbing sounds between it and the laminated bathroom wall. To make matters worse, the gray panel on my rig is misaligned when mounted, sticking out more than 1/4" toward the door making it very difficult to slam closed. I removed all the screws holding the gray panel on the inside (not the ones on the outside edge), with the door closed I put a couple wood wedges between it and the gray panel to force it away to clear the padding, drilled new holes for the screws. While doing this I also noticed the frame of the fire extinguisher box also put a big indent on the door padding no doubt this also add to the door closure difficulties. Other owners actually cut away the padding to try to solve this tight fit but I'm not that skillful, I used black duct tape to trim the opening after I removed the frame, also added another piece of duct tape at the round plastic corner which I found also squeak when rubbed. The sliding door now closes easily. See pics attached

Old Problem, New 2017 AI squeaks!

Hi!
Very excited to have purchased our 2017 AI Lounge EXT about a month ago. We are now the most popular parents on my daughter's elite soccer team!

Travel, tournaments and tailgating in style! And of course, our real love is for camping, but I guess that extensive camping will wait for a few more years once the soccer circuit slows down. We now have 1,500 miles in just a couple of weekends, and we're loving the lounge for the reasons we chose it.

Although we may have more squeaks as pointed out by others, there are a couple of squeaks and rattles that we have that are SO loud, I really could not say with any kind of certainty whether we have any of the others.

First, I narrowed down a loud squeak coming from the captain's chair directly behind the driver's seat. It is LOUD and ear piercing. If someone sits in the seat, it reduces to about 5%. My husband seems to think it is coming from the springs inside the seat cushion itself. I'm not entirely convinced. Bolts seem to all be tight, though. Anyone have any thoughts as to the cause, and the solution? My sanity is at stake on this one.

Secondly, loud rattles are coming from the rear window shades (when in up position, not sure if any other position). The dealership states they put dampers/bumpers in place, but we just don't see where exactly, and wonder if they are missing. Any ideas on this? This is more of a rattle/shutter when hitting a bump, but VERY annoying as it is occurring in everyone window that has a shade (okay, all of them).

Any solutions for the old-but-new-to-us-problems, would be super helpful! thanks so much!!

Quick update, I have not completely eliminated all the squeaks, there is another or two with different sounds coming from the upper right corner cavity of the sliding door (looking from inside) that may force me to peel off the upper padding to have a peek inside, dang it!

Drangedkim, If you have a rear door screen it seems to amplify noise with the aluminum frame banging on the aluminum track. I have cut small pieces of foam for the windows and push them in between the shades. I have gotten tired of chasing rattles and squeaks and just live with them.
