Initiation, same alarm went off.. and would not stop beeping,,,The trick was "do not start the engine :until the sliding door is closed. If you start the enginge the alram is triggered and does not go off until it resets by turning off engine and opening and closing door,. Problem fixed for us. Hope it helps others

For a scenario like that, I could see the benefit of being able to leave the engine running when providing curbside pickup and dropoff services in city traffic. And I can see the benefit of extending the step with the engine running, as it's an awfully high step for a physically impaired person to get in and out without the sliding step.

Any further detail on how to have step open while engine running?

We are traveling with family and having to shut engine on and off to open step while dropping off and picking up is really getting difficult.

Our old 2010 AI would open in either scenario. Not sure what step hold button does.

Thanks.

See the pics on how to enable the step with the engine running. You'll need a stubby screwdriver as shown and a jewelers screwdriver to pull the wire indicated in blue. Good luck!

That switch disables the step retract when the engine is off but the step will still retract when engine is started.

That was your last line of defense. Hope you don't regret it.

Instead of pulling the relay, just pull the #11 fuse under the drivers seat. The #11 fuse powers the beeper for the awning and step. #10 powers the step motor.
