Sliding Door stuck

The sliding door when open will not release when using the door handle. I have to push the release under the door to make it close. The cables look tight at the bottom I am guessing the cable came undone by the door handle. Anyone else run in to this issue?

Thanks Ken

My sliding side door had a problem a couple years ago where if the door was opened all the way to the point where it latched open, it had to be closed from outside because the inside door handle wouldn't work. It worked fine for opening the door, just not for closing it. The outside handle still worked for both opening and closing. The problem was fixed at my Sprinter dealer when I had the van in for Schedule A service, but the problem came back not long ago; whatever they did to fix it apparently came undone.

I added an intermediate stop on the center roller track so that now I only open the door partway, so now it's mostly a non-issue. Memo to self— don't forget to have MB dealer fix it again at the next service interval…

Assuming you have a late model Interstate, you can remove the inner panel to access the innards of the latch using a panel removing tool. See below.

The OP's ID tile says "currently looking...", no rig cited, and I can't remember which model year this might refer to.

I will say that our T1N Sprinter prefers to be unlocked before the sliding door is opened. Theoretically it's supposed to be open-able from the inside just by lifting its door handle, but it tends to jam if I do this. So if I'm trying to get out in the morning, I better hit my key fob to unlock before I reach for that handle. Learned this the hard way.
