Sequioa & King's Canyon NP
We've had our van since May and been to Sequioa & King's Canyon NP twice and Big Sur twice
Here's a link if anyone's interested to some pics we took at King's Canyon

We are heading up there in a couple of weeks. First Sequoia and on to Lake Tahoe and then to San Fran and down the coast. Hope to stay in Big Sur too so would be interested in where you stayed and any insight on the areas. Thanks

We initially stayed at Dorst campground at Sequoia, it was the only one with space left. A few weeks later we stayed at Grant's Grove in king's Canyon which we liked better. The space we got was huge . Took a couple of day trips to Cedar grove which has some amazing riverside picnic spots.
Big Sur there are a few campgrounds but we like the Pfeiffer Big Sur SP. Never had a reservation but have only been turned away once, there are usually cancellations it's such a big campground. We plan on going back in November.

You may want to try Plaskett Creek Campground. The campground is located in west-central California, on the east side of Highway 1. Sand Dollar Beach, the largest sandy beach in the Big Sur area, is just south of the campground. The Pacific Ocean borders the campground to the west and the surf can be heard at many campsites. I will be here about this time next month.

Was at Sequoia 10 days ago. Awesome visit....this was a last minute diversion and stayed in Bakersfield. Smart move as I would have had to do a preplan to have had a place to park the trailer.

Great pictures Mr. Colin!
Ron, if you haven't been already, you might try to reserve a spot at Jalama Beach near Lompoc on your way back down Hwy 1. And while you're there, try their Jalama burger 👍

I have driven the coastal route 1 many times and can't remember seeing the ocean any clearer. Great pictures, looking forward to my next trip in October.

Thank you very much for sharing the pictures! While you were in Sequoia National Park, did you have any problem driving your Interstate on the main roads inside the park? According to the Park's website, it indicates that " Vehicles longer than 22 feet (6.7056 meters) are not advised between Potwisha Campground and the Giant Forest Museum in Sequoia National Park." Thank you very much for sharing your experience!

Our Van is 22' and we didn't have any issues going up that road. It is very windy with tight bends but nothing the Sprinter cannot handle.
I found the Sprinter van very maneuverable in tight spaces, much easier than many shorter vehicles I have driven.
Cheers

Big Sur has a few private campgrounds and each one can be difficult for any trailer except the shortest ones. The state parks are often full and since we didn't think ahead, they were full. Best to make reservations beforehand. Gas up before you get there because fuel is very, very expensive along that section of highway.

The campsites are always fully booked however there are so many spaces you can almost guarantee there will be a cancellation. Just make sure you get there early to get your name on the list. First time we went we arrived in the afternoon , the sign said full but after talking to the ranger she found a couple of sites open.
