The sun is slowly setting on the whole satellite video thing. We are still direcTV customers at home, and probably will be for some time yet. But we have never been tempted to install one of the unwieldy satellite systems in our rig. It makes so much more sense to concentrate on the best possible WAN Internet capability. It isn't perfect yet, but it is the future.

This sounds discouragingly unwieldy as procedures go, so I perhaps should have noted that our original system had been a 110 volt arrangement in which my husband had to surgically remove a transformer because we switched to a 12 volt DC television. The original system did not make a lot of sense in the way it was laid out, perhaps owing to the age of our vehicle. Not everyone who wants to go with free-over-the-air TV will need to go to these lengths.
