I too recommend taking 81 South (STAY OFF 95!) and get as far South as quickly as you can. Looks like 40 to 75 then head down to I 20 or I 10 westward.

I am not sure if you are pulling or driving, (still looking Interstate). My wife and I drove a 4 wheel drive 2005 Suburban from CT west to Topeka, KS, by way of PA. From Topeka we went south to Oklahoma City then west to Amarillo, then on to Santa Fe, Phoenix then LA, CA. We made the trip in the Summer was OK. Next year we will be towing our Sovereign from FL up to 10 then west to CA.

Good luck with your Winter trip, be safe!

I 80 through Wyo, Utah and Nevada to Reno in winter can be rough. Stay south...

We left Maine on Dec 4 pulling our A/S Safari 27'. We do this every year to Pebble Beach.

Never had problems by going thru Hartford, Scranton, Nashville, Memphis, Little Rock, Texarkana (where we are overnighting now) Dallas, El Paso, Tucson, Quartzsite, Banning and you're there.

Because there are no open campgrounds until you reach PA or MD we overnight ate truck stops.

Once we reach TX we stay off the interstate as much as possible, just to discover little treasures/attractions.

Have a safe trip.

Carl

Try and stay on I-40 and by the time you get to New Mexico drop down to I-10. Also if you plan on using public camping check for state, county and city parks as some will have have very limited services.

Go south, then west, and you should be fine, weather-wise.

When we would head out in January, we just drove hard a couple of days until we were out of the worst of it, then found a place to dewinterize and pull things together. The worst of it varied from year to year.

If you have plenty of propane, even sleeping at rest stops is plenty doable until you are far enough south to find campgrounds open.

Have a great time.

Why pull the Raptor while the Bimmer just sits there crying, "Take Me"?

Too bad the Interstate doesn't have the "oomph" to tandem-tow both of them!

Hi, Gambita! We've made several cross country trips in our 2012 Interstate. Our trips have been in the Fall, coming back to California in November. Even in November, we've run into freezing weather on all three trips! The first trip we didn't turn on the tank heaters, and we had a problem, but since that experience, we've turned on our heaters and have been fine. All three times we've travelled on Interstate 40. Enjoy your trip!

Fantastic! How has the trip been going? Has the Interstate been comfy for the last few weeks?

Have to say I'm envious...

We took I-80 west all the way. The trip was smooth except in Wyoming ,
they closed I-80 for half an hour due to road icing but the Interstate took it all the way up.
