joemikeb, the water heater WILL NOT operate on the inverter while on battery power. It is not wired to the inverter, only to Shore Power and/or Generator. The water heater electric element is 1400 watts and the inverter only provides 1000 watts at 115 volts. I am looking at the wiring diagram for my 2014/13. The AC, Electric Water Heater, M-wave, the outlet over the sink and back on the right side by the lounge and outside on the right rear corner operate ONLY on 115 shore power or generator along with the power to the inverter itself.

What do the coffee pot references refer to? I have no coffee pot in mine.

There is a plug located in the overhead shelf above the left end of the "kitchen" counter that is designated as the "Coffee Pot" plug. It is only hot when on shore power or the generator is running. It is intended for high wattage devices, such as a coffee pot or perhaps an electric skillet or other high amperage device.

Hidden Coffee Maker Outlet and Aisle Light Wiring

On my 2013 there was also a 120V AC coffee maker outlet buried behind the panel in overhead cabinet right above the sink. See first photo below. I think this is a violation of any good wiring practice to enclose a connection behind a hidden panel.

I changed it to a duplex receptacle and remounted it on outside of panel so I can use this outlet with slow cooker in sink. See second photo below.

I also found wiring for another 12V DC aisle light next to the propane alarm on floor right behind the galley. See yellow connectors in third photo below. I got an extra aisle light from Airstream dealer and installed it -- works great for added night lighting next to bathroom. See fourth photo below.

Airstream apparently hasn't changed the wiring design for things they eliminated in production. That saves them from having to update their precious wiring diagrams.

Out of curiosity I just went out and opened up that panel above the sink in my 2013 lounge AI and found only wiring for the 12V kitchen cabinet counter lights and the pump switch. I looked in the similar panel in the cabinet over the range and found the wiring for the "Coffee Pot" outlet and some more 12V wires but no sign of another 110V outlet or way to install one without cutting the cable and splicing it in.

I am beginning to think the reason the wiring diagrams are so hard to come by is much of the wiring is ad hoc and can vary from unit to unit.

Mine has the wiring behind the panel where Boxter mounted his outlet in photo #2.

Good to hear about the extra aisle lite wiring under the streetside seat. Will have to check mine. Bet the lite is pricey tho. Paid ~$60 for one of the reading lites over the lounge.

I checked my records. It was only $16 last October when I got it from dealer. See photo below of what it looked like before I installed it, chrome outer ring not in photo. I think it was P/N 522377, it is the same light used in the side step foot well. See attached page from Airstream Interstate Part Book.

Hope this helps,

I'm really surprised that Airstream quit putting a courtesy light there. My 2012 has a light there, although it is under the LPG detector rather than over it.

My 2014 has the aisle light under the propane detector, and one on the side of the footwell.

The only wires in mine were the supply to the propane detector. There were several wiring harnesses that went over the wheel well near the body. Guess I didn't need an extra aisle lite after all.
