Relocating Battery Disconnect for 2012 AI

I'd like to relocate the main house battery disconnect switch from under the rear lounge to an e more accessible location like the sliding door area. Is this possible? How hard and long would it take? Has anyone done this and could provide instruction and pictures. It's so difficult to a access that switch when the rear lounge is in bed mode. Thx for your help.

Relocating that switch would be difficult. Probably better to get a remote controlled switch like the one used on the later model Interstates. Then you could have a remote control switch mounted in a more convenient location that would activate the disconnect switch.

Exactly correct. A Remote would be doable. You could snake the wire behind and over the shower. It would not be easy but it shoulders be possible.

Something to keep in mind— You don't have to add a remote by the side door just because that's where newer Interstates have them. You could just as easily put it up in the overhead locker where your control panel is located. That would still make the switch accessible while the sofa/bed is in bed mode, but with a much easier cable run since you wouldn't have to snake wires past the bathroom.

Thx everyone. Do you have a picture or instruction on wiring for remote. What remote did you use? I have no idea where and what type of remote to use. Thx.

Trying to move the marine type disconnect switch would not only be a chore, it would also drastically lengthen the cable run from your battery to the switch and then from the switch back to the fuse block. You would be introducing a significant amount of voltage drop in the process.

The better approach is to use a remote, solenoid operated disconnect system like the Intellitec BD-01. This system allows for the remote switch to be placed virtually anywhere you can run the small (18AWG) wires while the heavy duty solenoid is placed under the lounge between the batteries and the fuse block. And yes, you can run communication wires either to the display panel on curb side rear or all the way up to the front by the side door. I run these types of wires to both locations on a regular basis.

These type of devices are also available thru marine supply outlets from manufacturers like Blue Sea Systems and Marinco.
