Refrigerator question

The Dometic refrigerator in our sprinter van gets too warm during drives of 4-8 hours, but the safety videotapes say not to leave the propane on while driving. Is there another trick? Or do people really, in real life, leave the propane on while in transit? The dometic instructions imply that they do, stating that levelling is not a problem to refrigeration while moving. Should I leave the propane on while traveling and just turn it off to refuel at the gas station?

there are several threads on this subject. We travel with our propane on all the time.

me, too. on all the time. no problem in three different trailers with 4 fridges. the risk isn't in the fridge being on, it's in having a pipe come loose/broken underneath and spewing gas. I'd hate to have a flare going down there. But you gotta keep the fish and milk cold!

Lots of people do it, and never have a problem, but if you do have an accident that somehow manages to damage or dislodge a connection, you're going to have propane everywhere. I think the odds of having such an accident are pretty low, but it is something to consider.
