Proud new owners - 2007 AI

After an exhausting day of travel, we finally arrived in Sedona where the owner met us at the shuttle stop. We went over the coach in great detail. I swear, you could eat off the underside of this rig. The propane tank looks brand new as does the lines and fittings. Inside shows a modest amount of wear but I’m not complaining, it looks great. Might have to fix a thing or two.

It drives great, much better than the 2004 we saw in Memphis two weeks ago. Even with a strong crosswind we had a comfortable ride. We are spending the night in Gallup at the USA RV Park at exit 16. I discovered that it has cruise control. Weirdest looking thing, but it works fine.

The best part was when we stopped for fuel. I grabbed my CC and hopped out only to be stumped as to the location of the filler location. I even broke out the manual, but couldnt find it in there either. I was going to call the PO and ask him when I remembered where it was located.😰

So, we are two happy campers with a new toy.

You'll fall in love with the way it handles on the twisty/turny/upsy/downsy roads in Arkansas. So very much better than trying to pull a trailer…

I already agree with pulling the trailer part and will confirm the former later this week!

Found all the maintenance records and original bill of sale. The turbo resonator has been replaced three times. Last change was in 2012. Might need to change it one more time.

Checked fuel mileage today...24mpg.

Probably never changed with a metal one, if it had to be changed more than once.

Congrats Tincampers!

I'm still thinking about going the same route - although for us, it cannot be an AI as it is a few inches too long t fit in our drive without encroaching on the city sidewalk that crosses our drive and the city are quite sticky about that!

I think there are other slightly shorter good class B choices too though that we will explore!

Enjoy and safe travels!

There are two different lengths of Airstream Interstate, 22'9" and 24'1" (bumper to bumper, not including hitch in both cases).

Just to be clear, are you saying the 22'9" length is too long for your driveway?

If so, your choices are very limited on a Sprinter van base, as far as I know to just the Roadtrek Agile and Roadtrek Ideal, both of which use the 144-inch wheelbase Sprinter instead of one of the 170-inch-wheelbase Sprinters.

If you go with a non-Sprinter-based van conversion, one to consider would be the Airstream Avenue, which was discontinued in 2013, though a few might still be available for sale used.

Or several class B RVs based on the Dodge Ram Promaster (Fiat Ducato) like Hymer Aktiv and Winnebago Travato, they top out at 21ft long.
