Question Project 2000 step source

Thought I had my step problem solved (motor fried) with a new motor only to find that it was totally different!!

Have tried doing a search on the internet for project 2000 steps or just the motor and am only able to find ones in Italy or Europe!

Is there anyone in the states I can get just the motor or the whole step if need be? Have tried contacting Airstream and have yet to get a reply.

Ron

Exclamation Project 2K step

Just got an answer from Airstream, "contact a dealer, should be able to get you just the motor". "Need to contact the dealer for cost". "The part number for the motor only is 512450-103 MOTOR ONLY FOR P2K STEP 512450"

Am going to contact dealer in Des Moines Iowa

If step is not working, pics show where wiring controller is located inside cabinet. Also can access the wiring to switch out the door maginet and wiring. Screen door had to be fully removed to gain access to then panel.

Question Step motor

Got a replacement motor, got it installed, now no power to it!

Fuse OK, relay operates, but no power to the motor. Is there something in- between the relay and the motor besides the switches (door and step)?

I am flying this blind (do have some electrical trouble shooting experience),
a wiring diagram should would be helpful!

Ron

Thank letting us know you solved the problem. Was this done by a dealer?

Step source

No, did it myself. Have had to repair may a radio or power supply with the same problem.

Was going to take pictures, but put it all together before I thought about it!

I'm having problems with the step in my 2015 GT, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I have had it into the dealership twice to have it fixed, the last time the tech put stronger magnets on, not sure why.

My question is there another type of step that would work better than the Project 2000?

I am considering just having the electric disconnected and operating it manually if I can't find a reliable solution.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Just this week my step was binding, not fully closing unless we pushed on it when it was retracting. Then it wouldn’t come out but then it finally did with some coaxing while repeatedly closing and opening the sliding door. I got on the ground and could see there was a pebble stuck above the sheet metal that is the top portion of the step enclosure. It was pressing down on the sheet metal which was hanging up the step ever so slightly.

Removed stone. Used a screwdriver to pry up on that enclosure top to try and return it to its proper position.

Fixed. I was lucky. No fuse had blown and no motor burned out.

I also am having trouble with the Project 2000 step on my 2017 Interstate. I spoke to Airstream today in Ohio and they offered helpful information regarding the step setup via the attachments I've provided here. My problem is that the step works sometimes fully and sometimes only partial movement. The fuse and the magnet are not the issue. Airstream service believes the step needs to be lubricated even though it is only 2 years old. One of the attachments says to only use grease to lubricate, but the tech person said his colleagues at the factory have used silicone spray lubricant effectively on the step. The attachments provide pretty good explanation of the way in which the step is attached, so I will give it a try. Perhaps these attachments will be helpful to others who have challenges with the Project 2000.
