problems with registration

I have a 2007 interstate, built on a 2006 dodge chassis. NY state will not register the vehicle as a 2007 only as a 2006. I have contact RVIA and airstream, both agree it is a 2007, I sent the original MSO copy from airsteam and still the same. Has anyone had this problem in NY state. Jim

Same here in Kansas, 2010 chassis and 2011 Airstream. Registered as 2010. Probably fairly standard to register as the chassis date.

Why is it a problem?

title problem

First thing that comes to mind is value. A 2006 is about $8400 less then a 2007 according to NADA.

Had the same problem in fl and the dealership had to straighten it out. Ido no know what they did. Class A motor homes are not registered on their chassis year but on the mh year, so v
Class b.should be the same. Jim

Not necessarily. Class B is unique in that the motorhome manufacturer only makes the interior, hence the "conversion van" description. That may also be part of the problem. It may have to be registered as a conversion van for the later year to apply.

After checking my paperwork, my Interstate's title, registration, and proof of insurance all just list it as "conversion van." No mention of Airstream. But it does say 2012, matching the model year of the conversion.

Interesting; for mine, all 3 documents show 2010 Airstream. 2010 is the MY of the conversion not the Sprinter. I had the feeling while going through the registration process that what was entered was somewhat based on how I presented the information and was subject to the whim of the person on the other side of the desk.

In my case the registration and title were two dif years. I cannot remember which year the ins was, after several attempts at DMV, I gave up and asked the dealer to handle it. That was just one of many small nagging problems so I just traded it in, do not know if dealer actually handled the problem or not, didn't 't care anymore. Jim

That should make the tax lower.

chassis 2006, built date 6/07. As far as taxes, it's based on the price you pay not the year.

Airstream must have had a slow year in 2009 to still have a 2008 chassis for 2010.

Kansas is based on some value and it decreases each year. Used to go to $12/yr after 15 years but they changed that, don't know what it is now.

Your thinking sales tax, not property tax.

wow, i guess they'll just charge you the paperwork fees, just like the window stickers that fall off and you have to pay them for a new one that also doesn't stick :-)
