Problems with Carbon Monoxide detector on 2014.5 Interstate

Is everyone having problems with the Carbon Monoxide detector???

I'm on my fourth?? one in 18 months. They last a couple or three months, and then die. When they die, they beep every 20 seconds, which is their failure mode. Actually, it's not a beep or a chirp, it's a full-on 1 second alarm every 20 seconds. We bought a $15 battery-operated detector from Home Depot, which we use after the Airstream one has died and before I can get it replaced by the dealer (under warranty).

Now, this might be related to the disaster that is my van's electrical system, but for some reason, this Interstate eats these detectors. That's four I've had, I think, in the van's 18-month life. The dealer just keeps replacing them.

Is this common? Anybody else?

P.S. After the first two or three died, I completely unplug it, remove its battery, and store it in the drawer when the van is not in use.

Mine failed once, and the dealer replaced it with a different model from the same manufacturer. Been fine so far.

On my 2012 model, the detector isn't hardwired to the house system, it's battery-only, and works just fine going on four years as long as I replace the batteries annually. If all else fails, you can replace your hardwired-with-battery-backup detector with a battery-only model, and that may help.

We have a 2014.5 and our CO2 detector failed almost immediately. Ordered same model from Amazon and it has been fine for almost a year now.

We have a 2013 Flying Cloud 23D. I want to replace the 9V battery in my battery-only CO2 detector (made by Costar) however I can't get it off the wall mount. The directions and the printing on the face of the unit both indicate which way to turn it to remove it. However I've tried several times and I am convinced if I twist harder I am going to break something.

Is there a secret I should know?

Thanks

You might check for either a removable locking pin or a release clip that needs to be depressed to allow it to rotate.

By any chance do you have any instructions for it or if not, check the web.

Thank you both, I found the looking pin only by standing on the bed, LOL. It's mounted that high on the wall. All is well!
