I'm considering another vehicle which can take a wheelchair and I wondered if anyone has seen or heard of a modified Interstate. I'm in a very early exploratory stage!

An Interstate is a very poor choice for a wheelchair-bound person. The aisle is only 19 inches wide at its narrowest point (at the widest point of the wet bath), which would make half the van inaccessible to a person in a wheelchair.

Other makers of Sprinter-based RVs have different floor plans that might be more suitable, including some that sacrifice counter and cabinet space for more floor space. Such as this one…

Don't know about Airstream, but I do know Great West Vans has converted a Sprinter with a wheelchair lift. They are a small outfit and very amenable to modifications.

Having a wheelchair lift just means a person in a wheelchair can get in and out of it. Doesn't make it usable as an RV by a wheelchair-bound person. Most likely one or both second-row seats were removed and tie-down points added for securing the chair, allowing a wheelchair-bound person to safely ride in the van as a passenger. But the majority of the RV systems in the Interstate would still be inaccessible to a wheelchair-bound person.

Maybe the rest was modified when the lift was installed?
