4J+1+1 RV Park, Ouray CO

This is a great location, heart of Ouray, with stunning views.

The best sites back on the Uncompahgre river. Unfortunately we didn't get one of these.

Couple pics

What we use our Interstate for.....fun! We normally use the van as transportation to and from events, as a base camp at the event but we normally
rent a house to sleep in. Although I sometimes sleep in the van, Airbnb homes can be sketchy.

Been enjoying your pics and wondering what kind of temperatures you're experiencing. Gotta be a lot cooler than here on the Gulf coast.

That's a full house! A great way to enjoy your Interstate.

New Mexico was still a bit warm during day (high 80s), comfortable at night. Colorado has been 70s day and down in 40s at night, depending on altitude. We read the heat advisories for Houston and think, "Oh well..."

Meeting many

Meeting many nice people in CO who share similar hobbies and their love of Airstreams, RV'ing, cycling, and other sports. And didn't even have to leave campground to meet so many new friends

That is beautiful. I've seen several people with drones. Are they very difficult to learn and/or maneuver? Are you editing from video or is it taking still photos?

Agree with Mansderm. YOUR photo and our son in laws recent video of him rappelling is the first time I've thought of adding a drone to our collective.

That shot of Flathead Lake revealing the coast line (and the AI in the distance) is terrific.

I became enamored with drones back in 2010 watching YouTube videos from Europe and purchased the first US import of the German Mikrokopter Hexacopter kit and had to solder and build it myself.

Today, I use the DJI Mavic Pro Platinum (platinum = slightly quieter propellors) https://amzn.to/2JwheTC
Love it. Easy to fly. You just need to be disciplined to not fly close to anything or too fast for your capability level or you WILL crash. What DJI sells today is light years ahead of what I learned and crashed on. Use the automatic flight options instead of manual flying whenever possible.

I recommend soaking up some YouTube videos on flying skill and technique and using the pre-programmed flight modes. For other DJI product choices and more detailed info, look at:
https://www.dji.com/products/mavic?s...dsite&from=nav

People will freak about you flying anywhere near their RVs, kids, or dogs so be forewarned and be considerate... ask permission of those around you. Look up the legal stuff... no flying within 4 miles of an airport, or above 400 feet, must have eye contact with the craft, etc. Sometimes, the best drone angle is only 10-20 feet off the ground. Take is slow... be safe.

The picture is awesome, but so is the house and lake. Is that a friggin' door leading down from the house to the dock? I may be seeing things wrong but does it lead to a tunnel? Please tell me that's a tunnel. On second thought, if it isn't, don't tell me. I want to think it is.

Drone photo question

Photo taken with a DJI Spark drone. About $500 with remote and 2 batteries.
Software makes it easier to handle. Camera is just fair quality as you can see.

Good advice.

Freak about? Maybe worse than that. Every once in a while, somebody's kid gets hold of their drone and starts using it to "spy" on the rest of our subdivision, coming into back yards and peeping into windows. I keep a couple of home-made bolas handy. If I catch one of those things on my private property, it'll be crashed back to earth into a small heap of twisted wreckage. And then I'll take it to the police so that they can book the intruder.

That being said, we do own one ourselves, because my husband wanted it, and he's a pilot. I did not argue, but I would not have gotten one for my own use.

I don't fly our drone - only he does. One wrong move and it's a big chunk of money gone forever. Too much stress for me.

Here's a couple of re-posts of pics taken from it - one over my other private property (no neighbors to offend in that location), and one in a public area where nobody else was in proximity at the time (so nobody cared).
