Another shame on Airstream if you ask me.
I agree. Locking push button latches have been used on sailboats for ages... Very poor Airstream design. That's what happens when a company lets designers design something based on looks without thinking about how it will be used.

My 2013 Interstate GT

I am dry camping in my Step Granddaughter's driveway out side Daniel Boone National park in Kentucky. They live off the grid. I'm considering adding solar for my next visit.

We have a NO RV Parking rule at our condo. Good thing the AI isn’t an RV. It is a Luxury Van. [emoji3]

I maintain same logic regarding my HOA's no RV rule, which has an exception for passenger vans. I can park it in driveway behind my townhouse in an alley where it is only visible to a few neighbors. It doesn't bother anyone.

However this spring I had to park it in the street for a few weeks while building a new screened porch. I did get a nasty note from one neighbor about parking my RV in an area where he liked to park his car. I moved it to another less popular area and had no other issues. Here is photo of my Interstate in the driveway with porch nearly finished.

While out driving today I saw this old B-190 in the lot at an auto repair shop. Not an Interstate, but an early ancestor.

We stayed at that lot in the winter- with the wind off the ocean it was darn cold! (Plus my house battery failed and would have to start the generator or engine to charge the battery to run the heater).

Great spot.

I'm going to try that rationale with my HOA, but Im not optimistic, mainly because I have one neighbor who complains about everything![emoji51]

"My grandparents went to London, and all they got me was this crappy T-shirt."

"My Interstate went to Texas City, and all I got is this crappy staged photo because DHS has a freak-fest every time someone tries to take a photograph of the port, even if it's only from the right-of-way."

For the first time in history, there's a VLCC docked at Texas City (news story here - check out the pic even if you don't read the article). I cut my consulting teeth doing oil spill contingency planning as far back as 1993, but until today, I'd never set eyes on a VLCC. Few people have - they typically remain at sea. To provide an idea of just how large this vessel is, its oil cargo would be capable of keeping the entire country of Canada powered for approximately four months.

So I caught an unceremonious glimpse of the butt end of said VLCC, and then on my way back out, I stopped to take this. I wasn't kidding about DHS. They don't want any photos taken in that area. But imagine what an Interstate would look like next to a VLCC. THAT would be a photo.

Is that Canadian Summer or Canadian Winter?

It certainly is a Very Large Crude Carrier all right.

Average, I assume.

Back I was a kid, back when there was absolutely no such thing as security, my father used to talk us onto foreign freighters as a cheap form of entertainment. We were tiny kids but we'd get a whole ship tour - the engine rooms would scare the crap out of me, every single time. My father would slip some random sailor a skin magazine and perhaps five bucks in compensation for these not-quite-authorized shipboard adventures. Those were the days.

Indian Trees National Forest CG

I'm retracing some of the Trans-America bicycle route I pedaled when crossing the country 42 years ago. This CG is south of Darby Montana. A real find; it's less than a mile off the highway, quiet, paved, level, cheap. If it had cell service it would be perfect.

At this campground you can see some Ponderosa pines that had a section of their bark peeled away by Indians after they had harvested the soft bark lining for eating. Fascinating.

Stayed there a couple of years ago. The number of HDs going to Sturgis on nearby I90 was amazing to see and hear. In spite of the distant noise from the Harleys (which ceased before dark) and the nearby train track, that's a great campground!
