Whitney trailhead to DV at -260+ft below sea level. We approached DVNP from the west on 190. The road is in very good condition but that is a very challenging drive. We were dealing with a 35-40mph wind from the south (right to left across the Sprinter) and 110F temps. 1st and 2nd gear were the rule as it is very steep and very twisty. I had been watching tire pressures and temps closely, especially on the fronts. Even with very minimal braking, I had the tire temperature warning go off at 155F. There are not many turn-offs to choose from but I took the first overlook to pull into and let things cool a bit. As a side note, I was also monitoring the engine temp and the tachometer. The tach and tire temps were my main focus as engine temps were elevated to 213-215 but stayed constant on some of the uphill runs. They immediately went back to normal on the down hill run. But on the down hill I tried not to allow revs higher than 3200-3600rpm. The wind really added an extra challenge. We made it to the hotel and spent 2days exploring DVNP. Too hot for us....been there done that.
Overall we never plugged-in or ran the generator for the whole trip out. We previously had Lew upgrade our solar to 300w. It is all we needed. Our batteries never went below 65% available. The Sprinter delivered 17mpg over 3500 miles travelled. No real problems. We have been back a month. I think I do have, what Merl Haggard sang about, White Line Fever! Can't wait for our next outing.

P.S. Excuse my picture as this is the first time I have posted a pic. Just have not figured the rotate-thing out yet.

Almost something Ansel Adams might depict. Love the lighting in this one.

Changing the theme - this shot is not in the wild. Here is my Interstate parked at my favorite local coffee shop. My Interstate is my second vehicle and gets constant use. Now over 70,000 miles and just serviced for our next trip to Thompson, MB. Then a train ride to Churchill, MB for a week on Hudson Bay.

Now that is a beautiful spot, and beautiful picture!

The colors almost look like an oil painting.

MOAB! We discovered you can camp at the top of arches NP when we were out there, no electric hookups but the setting was fantastic. Next time we will stay in the NP!
