You are correct that the pumps should be labled. You are looking for "ultra low sulpher diesel" or ULSD. Some pumps are also labled No. 2 Diesel which is ultra low sulpher. You are also safe using B5 Bio Diesel but no higher.

If they follow the law. See Post#7.

My dealer advised to avoid it if at all possible.

In addition to Love's, QT, and Murphy's (at Walmart and Sam's) have BioDiesel. There may be others. It is always better to ask first. It shut me down on a trip to Alaska up in Wyoming.

You can't rely on brand reliability. BP usually has straight diesel, but at an exit in Wisconsin a BP had B20. Fortunately I looked at the label just as I was inserting my credit card and saw the sticker. Went down the road a piece and found pure diesel. Can't be too careful. It was difficult in Minnesota to find non-bio, too.

So fare I did not checked on the bio diesel always went for the cheapest and I am sure put many times B20 in but had no problem for 60k in 3 years now. It is not easy to get anything less the B20 in Illinois.

B20 is not an issue in older diesel engines, only in engines that comply with EPA Tier-3 emissions requirements, namely those that use DEF for exhaust treatment. So it is a problem for Airstream Interstates that have the BlueTec system— starting with the ones built on a 2011 Sprinter. Pre-2011 models can burn B20 without problems.

I've got a 2010 Sprinter in my 2011 AI and use DEF and it also says B5 max. I think the DEF started w/ the NCV3 in ~2007.

Your profile doesn't mention an Interstate, only a 2005 Skydeck. Sorry for the confusion.

Yes but you only can list one. I wanted to sell my Interstate after purchasing the SkyDeck by decided 2 Airstreams are better then one special after the SkyDeck also serves as the home/house.

Picked up our beautiful interstate on Friday. Son and I drove back from Tampa to Ohio with no real issues. Had an amazing time, spent a night in a truck stop using the generator and another night hooked up to shore power in a Virginia hillbilly campsite. Only issue driving along I4 in pouring down rain stopped for lunch. After our lunch rig was showing and abs eps error. At the same time heavy traffic kept getting series of blarring lights across the dash. Was worried I made a mistake and bought a lemon. Called owner and he said he always got the light s too and did not know what they were. My son and I figured it out in about 5 minutes, it was the front sensors. Obviously shut them off when we were in traffic. I'm an anal guy, previous owner was not. Anyway got a great deal and a great rig. Had it serviced in Ohio and they replaced a speed sensor to correct error codes under warranty. Looking forward to more travels.

Picking up 2013 interstate ext on friday

Docevil - you bring up a good point that I hope folks with newer Interstates realize. Since the 2013 Lounge EXT model Airstream has been ordering their Sprinters with the Parktronic System. This system has proximity sensors on both front and rear bumpers. It is activated when you are below about 10 mph in either drive (D) or reverse (R). In slow moving/stop and go traffic the sensors are active and if anyone gets close to you the start flashing and sounding a warning.

Enjoy your new to you Interstate.
