As a general post-script to this thread, not urban-related but falling into the category of "it's right in front of you but you don't see it until someone brings the topic to your attention", my husband and I noticed the figure of "7.5 meters" on a certain Canadian national park road sign. Vehicles longer than 7.5 meters (24.6 feet) were prohibited from entering the road or parking in the area.
