We found a magnetic one, very sturdy and with strong magnets, that attaches to the steel plate in the galley area.

It hangs from the horizontal plate, so looks different than this photo, but works great and no screws.

Nah. I carry placemats because they're less trouble (and easier to wash) than tablecloths; why on Earth would anyone need both placemats AND a tablecloth? And I'd much rather put my knife, fork, and spoon down on a placemat than on a picnic table that probably hasn't been sainitized since it was built no matter how many birds dumped on it.

And scratching the itch of curiosity, what exactly IS a serviette?

It's the same thing as a napkin, only Her Majesty uses it.

Hi Maggie,
I bought the same paper towel holder to only find out there seems to be no steel plate in the 2014 airstream interstate. There's plenty of aluminum, but that doesn't work. Am I missing something?

I have a different PT holder and I attaché it to the aluminum sidewall to the left of the sink with heavy duty (industrial) Velcro. If you press it firmly in place it won't fall off. This should work with an type of holder.

Over your burners?

That's where mine is, and where my paper towel holder rests.

Seems to be a heat protection plate.

I think my paper towel holder, plus a roll of paper towels, would be too heavy for velcro tape.

Just remember the fenders on most modern automobiles are held in place with industrial strength velcro. The keyword is "industrial strength". You can find industrial strength velcro at Home Depot, Lowes, Ace hardware stores, etc. I have found that it is important to clean the surface you are attaching to with an isopropyl alcohol wipe before applying the velcro and then giving the glue on the velcro time to cure before putting any significant weight on it.

Personally I would be more concerned about the risk of igniting the paper towels with the flame from the burners.

I guess anything is possible, but it's hard to imagine this holding with velcro.

I pull the paper towel roll off if cooking over high heat, but generally like to do that outside.

As flame is never uncovered, the location has not been a problem. Had ours about a year.

What we like about it is that it uses otherwise unused space, not the precious soace in a cabinet or countertop.
