Outside TV Mount

Looking for suggestions and pictures preferably, of an outside TV mount on an Interstate. Setting a TV on top of a table somehow takes away from the classy look of the Interstate.

What size of TV were you hoping to see / mount?

Also, were you thinking side or rear?

Someone else on another thread made it so that a TV was temporarily mount-able in the rear of the Interstate, such that it was view-able out the doors (for tailgating). But that was a while ago, and I can't remember the thread.

We swing the lounge TV around so it can ge seen and heard from the curbside lounge window. May not be classy, but we don`t have to haul around a "portable."

I have one designed in my mind that would work great. But. It would involve mounting a aluminum channel to the side of the unit. This could be powder coated to match the color of you Interstate.

I’m thinking more on the passenger side near the rear. It would be close to the outlet and cable box already on the side. Also it would need to clear the slide door when it opens

Tv size 24-32”. Nothing too big.

What about using a small projector and a screen? Easier to setup and store...

Outside TV Mount

I installed a Camco 57268 Mounting Rail for my grill on the passenger side behind the rear wheels of my Interstate. It is directly above the LP Fill Panel. This rail could be used to mount a TV much like suggested by GMFL.

This page from Walmart shows the grill and table stand that can also be mounted on the rail.
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Camco-Oly...Grill/29764622

This page from Amazon shows the mounting rail and one version of how it can hold a grill on side of an RV.

I'll have to dig into my photos to later post a photo of what it looks like on my van. Using this mounting rail you could fashion a TV mount setup.

Here are some photos of the mounting rail, grill holder and installed grill on my Interstate. This mounting rail could also be adapted to hold a TV for outside viewing.

Boxster1971, any concern with this setup damaging the outside. Is there a brace behind the aluminum side for this bracket to attach to? This would be a workable option I think.

I’m trying to use a flat screen tv with a built in DVD player that I have already.

I sent Mike a couple of questions on his setup... one was about the rail and if there was a need for internal reinforcement to avoid the sheet metal bending/getting damage from use...

DELORES - I'll post below what I sent via PM to wachko and add that I think this mount is OK for a grill or a 19-21" TV mount. Both are close to the same weight.

It came white and I painted it silver. It is attached with four SS sheet metal screws and some sealant. I did not remove the interior panel. Just estimated that the area behind the mount was clear. I've had the grill mounting set-up over four years now and use it on nearly every trip. It is holding up just fine with no issues.

I did notice that the grill mount has changed. Mine folds up for storage in the grill case. It doesn't look like the new one will fold. But the new Olympian 5500 grill would be easier to use as it has built in table legs. It looks like an overall improved design.

The only problem I've had with my grill was the thermometer. It got damaged and I replaced it with one from Weber. I also added a latch to the lid to keep it locked closed. You can see the latch if you look close at my posted photo. I noticed the new model already has a lid latch and a better thermometer - nice improvements.

MIKE - Nice grill. Now I know where to get burgers at Alumapalooza.

DELORES - Not exactly outside setup, more of a inside but viewable outside, just another idea.

DELORES - the tv you will use is not heavy at all. Something like these tire steps are easily adaptable to be portable seats or tables or work area (for my bike work when on races). You could easily bolt a VESA tv bracket on it and mount the whole contraption behind tv, so all you do is pull itbout and slide over tire. It is portable, adjustable, very light, take up little room, supports lots weight, and usable on all 4 corners of van and always out of the way of doors

Wow, this may be exactly what I need. I will order one and try it out, but I think this is a great solution.
