While I have fairly long legs for my average height, I still like the bike to be fairly low for the gnarly stuff. So I lowered my Beta Xtrainer 1” and have a slightly lower seat. So if in a place where I really need to put a foot down (like balance getting off) then it saves falling over. And a LOT of energy.
Any chance you have the link to his write-up?

Beta Xtrainer... so you have a dedicated bike to off-road... I can't do that. Needs to be dual purpose...

Just how many Benelli's do you have!!?? That is not something I see every day. Wow!

I need to see a Honda CRF300LS in the flesh before I commit to the Himalayan....

Wachuko, how about a Honda XR650 Baja? Seat to ground is 37.5”.. Beast of a bike at about 300lbs.

Well, I have too many Benellis (some would say). But I quite enjoy bringing them back to life and great fun to ride.
750 sei
250 SuperSport
175 Enduro
Dynamo Compact (mini)
Dynamo Woods bike (mini, first bike I ever rode).

Here is the link to Dean’s trip.

That is a great hobby. Soon I should be able to resume working in all my car projects... and by soon I really mean next year

On other news, installed the carrier on the RV and installed trailer lights.

From the photo it looks like the carrier is wider than the Interstated, but it is not...

Ramp and rear extensions for the tie-downs are stored inside the RV... I will leave it on all the time so it does not take space inside the garage.

I am 5'6"... tallest seat height I can manage is 31.5", that is it. I will be buying a Royal Enfield Himalayan and removing some weight by replacing parts with lighter ones. I should be able to bring it down from 439 lbs to around 395 lbs

Spent yesterday going to a few dealers to test a couple of bikes... Bottom line, it sucks to be short

Loved the looks and feel (very low center of gravity)of the KTM 890 Adventure... but there is no amount of lowering that will make it work for me

The only other bike that I need to try is the KTM 390 Adventure before I decide on the Himalayan... Himalayan has a lot going for it as it is fairly inexpensive... goes like a tractor and easy to work on it... Should be fun for the forest trails. KTM will do better if I need to do longer segments on interstate/highways (with its higher top speed)... just need to ride it and get a feel for how high the seat is on that one. The dealer I went to yesterday was out of them... will get to try one next week. It the KTM 390 Adventure is not for me, then I will stop looking and buy the Himalayan around August this year.

Or … you could just “give in” and get a trailer )

Bicycle, one or two motorcycles, cook stove and camping gear …. [emoji5]

As some May recall, I’ve had this setup on 7 identical vans since 2014. But I’m an “outlier” for sure, since we’re at 39’ in length overall with this setup.

This photo is from Monday… loaded my S1000XR in the trailer… finished returning the pannier racks to a ‘23 R1250 GSA Trophy* since it’s being delivered to a new home in CA tomorrow. Loading the GSA next … then “poof” off - to - Baja on the XR after delivering the GSA to a great guy (buyer) in Palm Springs.

* just returned from a wonderful two month trip touring Mexico on the GS Adventure (Oaxaca, SMA, Guanajuato, Tequila, Mayto, San Sebastián de Oeste) … love love love Mexico.

Trailer:
I can’t help it, I’m a “trailer guy” and love bringing the garage with me. I can take a moto out of the trailer if I want to go explore an area, or leave the locked trailer at a camp site. It’s all insured and I don’t spend a minute worrying about replaceable stuff that’s insured.

Re: Royal Hym

You might enjoy Red’s travels … she’s got lots of great Hym experience.

I met her on the overnight Baja Ferry journey, from Baja to Mazatlan

Cool

ScottP,

That is great. But I am not that comfortable pulling a trailer. Main reason we got the AI. If that had not been the case, we would have purchased an Airstream trailer from the get go.

Those 1250 GSA are amazing. A good friend just bought one as well and was putting some pressure for me to get one...

...but I do not want another heavy bike... I went with a very inexpensive option. And this one I can easily carry it on the hitch carrier without any worries.

Oh man, you have that title now, lol. My list now needs to be updated with a lot of the mods you are making!!!

We are between homes and dealing with health issues with my father-in-law (he has been living with us for the past 20 years)… after he is better and we finally move to the new house, the mods will resume.

Right now, I just need to take Mara out so she can relieve some stress…

No sir, there is only one Mod King on this B Forum and it’s you! I’m sorry to hear about your father-in-law and will be praying that he gets better soon. I also wish you all the best during your transition. Lastly, yes, take the Boss lady out and keep her happy!

Looks like fun on the bike.
I have been riding my 73 Benelli 250 2C 2-stroke twin a bunch that I just overhauled the engine.
