FWIW, the Victron won't fit in the space where the Atkinson was, BUT, you may be able to move the huge inverter fuse to the right a few inches and eek out enough space to get it in there. The other way to go would be to move that fuse to the LEFT and put the Victron on the right. As you can see from the pic, the big PITA is the huge lead at the top of the fuse. It's a bit too short to move the fuse much to the right, and a bit too long to move it left. That's why I punted and installed my charge controller on the outside of the cabinet.
Can't visualize what I am about to suggest from your photos, but here it goes... I can see the lack of space on the sides of that fuse block... but what about installing on top of all that with proper spacers under the charger controller? Is there enough space between that and the cover to allow for that? or the front cover comes close to all those parts to allow for that approach? I guess I will find out when I get my AI...

At least you provided an alternative to mounting this. I will try to see if I can install in that stock location, but not going to fight too much with it knowing that it can easily be install on the outside

No, I donít think there is room where you are describing. Thereís other stuff up there and then you have to deal with the box top.

The other potential spot is back behind the inverter, but you would have to run some wires back there from the positive bus and you will definitely have to remove the jump seat to get back there (a PITA to do because of blind nuts on the right side holding the seat in place).

Thank you TayaraTravel for providing the list of parts needed for adding two additional house batteries!!!!
  • 2 - Part # 454982 - Battery tray, AGM CL24, End mount - there is no need for anything else. The tray includes the metal strap for the battery...calling tomorrow to confirm order with dealer
  • 12 - Part # 325128 - 1/4" rivets - calling tomorrow to confirm order with dealer (not sure if these are SS rivets... doubt aluminum to handle the weight of the battery...)
  • 2 - Part # GPL-24T - Life Line AGM Grp-24 Battery
  • 20' - 2/0 Battery Cable (I ended up ordering 15' black and 15' red just in case I make a mistake)
  • 8 - Copper lug 1/2'' eye 2/O (I ordered a pack of 15). I have the crimping tool for these (link provided for one sold in Amazon... father-in-law worked for the power company and when he moved in with us, he brought all sort of weird tools, this was among the tools he has... with several different size adapters for different wire sizes. I just spent the las hour talking to him about this, lol, love the guy. We get along so well)
  • Fuse block Terminal 30-300A with 150 amp fuse (orange)
  • Split Loom Tube to cover the cables (just some added protection... I also have some strong sleeve covers that I might use as well)

Also, note to self - remember the switch for cutting off power to LP valve switch

Give credit to MCRider for his original plan. All I provided was the invoice from Bob Jones RV.

Thank you! Yes, very happy and exited... and we hope to take a few trips right away... we will not go too far, but thinking Saint Agustine, Destin, Key West (in Jan for the seafood festival)....

And Mara (wife) has a list already... one she shared was the Precious Moments Chapel in Missouri (I need to start making my list or I feel I will get pulled into places that will be one sided, )

Dealer is updating all the paper work and will call me when ready, woohooo!!

Updating list
  1. Ordered - Glacier Ice Corian flip shelf Part number 602233-07 - Tommy Bahama edition does not come with the extended counter piece due to the under counter lights mounted. Had to be custom ordered in matching counter top color.
  2. Ordered - Two additional battery trays (these come with strap downs). AGM CL24, End mount Part numbers: 454982 - This is to double the house battery capacity.
  3. Ordered - Will be using two additional stock batteries for now (Part number for batteries: 511828 Battery, 12 Volt, Deep cycle, AGM Lifeline)
  4. Ordered - Teak Shower Mat for Airstream Interstate Lounge
  5. Ordered - Collapsible ladder - needed one at home so figured I would buy one that would also work with the RV
  6. Arrived - Victron BlueSolar 100/30 MPPT Charge Controller - 30 Amps / 100 Volts
  7. Arrived - Victron VE.Direct Bluetooth Dongle
  8. Arrived - Blue Sea ML-ACR 7622 Automatic Charging Relay
  9. MotoTote MTX Sport Motorcycle Carrier for when I want to take my motorcycle on a trip - plan to order this next as I want to have it here for the trip to Key West and when we head out to Georgia and Tennessee
  10. Surge protector/EMS - Progressive Industries EMS-PT30X Surge/EMS Protector with Cover - 30 Amp - to protect the electrical system in the Interstate when hooking up at a camp site
  11. Duallys valvesDually 16'' Steel / Aluminum Valve Stem Extension Kit DL1SPAL - or install an ARB compressor and have the correct air adapter and leave the stock air valves in place. Will most likely do both as I always like to have a compressor in each of my vehicles.
  12. Water pressure regulator for when hooking up at RV park facilities. Read somewhere that this prevents damage to the Interstate water lines when the pressure at the RV Park is higher than expected
  13. 3M Clear (or Xpel) protection film for the front to protect headlights and windshield
  14. 3M Crystalline film on windshield (clear) and side windows (legal tint) - to reduce heat inside while driving.
  15. Telescoping pole to make sure there is clearance before driving through areas with limited height, because I want to keep all the stuff on top of the Interstate in one piece... ouch!
  16. Rubber Wheel Chocks
  17. Leveling blocks/pads and the wheel chocks for these...
  18. Windshield cover for when parked to reduce interior heat. Also looking at this thread for maybe doing something similar for the side glass/windows. Anything that will help lower the inside temperature of our Interstate in this hot Florida climate (I know, not as harsh as in Arizona and Texas, but still...)
  19. Memory foam top for the bed or RV Superbag https://www.rvsuperbag.com/
  20. Build two boards (that can fold away for storage) for additional sleeping space for my two kids
  21. Gloves, hoses (separate hoses for water fills and for tank cleaning)
  22. Inline water filter for filling tanks - to keep all internals in great shape and avoid build ups...
  23. Sound deadening material to wrap generator and bring down the noise it makes - Thread on this

As suggested... not ordering anything else for now... but please, feel free to suggest anything that I might have missed.

Is an extended warranty (7 years) worth it on these units?

Probably not. Especially if it's a third-party warranty and not an Airstream or Mercedes warranty.

If I lived close to a Mercedes dealer and did not do my own maintenance I would consider a maintenance plan. It is not a warranty, but a package deal on the first X miles of A and B services.
