Drove the AI home to clean and noticed that the chrome molding is looking bad.
I will file a warranty claim to get new ones. Anyone else experiencing the same?

Wow, no and I have yours....I'm bringing it home in a day or two to wash too, after rain clears. I have warranty at Jackson center in May. I have soot in my microwave so scared to use and my air ride suspension is not working right since they worked on it last year.

I think someone at one of the airstream rally's said they had theirs replaced to to improper installation...one side was upside down and not flush. I have glue residue at one edge on mine.

I was wondering how it was held in place. So some sort of adhesive...not just some double face tape. Good to know. I was going to ask them to just send me the part and I would do the install. I really do not want to leave it at the dealer with all the nightmare stories some have shared....

There is adhesive on the new trim that comes covered with thin waxy paper that peels off to reveal the adhesive. The adhesive is a thin, even layer and there should be no squeeze out. I had to replace some in the past.
Best to clean off the mating area on the AI with alcohol or some other non-oily substance to get a good bond. The dealer should be able to recommend a good cleaner, they did for me.

The trim is held on with double sided adhesive tape, and if they mounted the panels on yours like they did on mine, they did no prep whatsoever. To make matters worse, the paint on the acrylic panels fails at some point and will have to be repainted or replaced (spider web type marks appear).
All the panels showed paint issues or were coming off and Airstream gave me a complete set (sans bumpers) when I was up there a few years ago for another matter for me to replace before the warranty expired, as I did not have time to wait for them to do it. I've replaced them as they start to fall off. While not all of them have become loose, many have.
It's no easy task to replace. First, you have to remove the old panel, and clean off areas where the adhesive glue remains (that's the hard part), and then prep it with alcohol, then place it carefully on the panel. You get one shot to get it right as once placed, the 3M tape won't let go again if you did the prep correctly. The chrome trip piece on top of the panel works the same way.

That trim tends to peel over time and need replaced periodically.
I don’t know if a coat of wax or something similar over it would protect it any...
I have had done it now on both of mine, but if you’re handy it is a matter of measuring, cutting, peeling and sticking.

Thank you all!! Sending message to Airstream now. I have used acetone in the past for cleaning surfaces before painting or gluing something, that is what I was going to use.
First, let me see if Airstream will send these parts directly to me or if I am going to have to go through the dealer.

Fusion Kill Switch Data
Per Wachuko added 2 kill switches to fusion (those shown below 4 wheel drive)
I ran some experiments that I will share so that you engineer types can explain how this works.
Voltage on Yellow and Red Wires (Fusion disconnected)
Ignition House Batt Yellow red
Off Off 13.7 0
On Off 13.7 11.3
Off On 13.7 13.3
On On 13.7 13.3
Effect of switch possitions on Fussion
Switch 1 Switch 2
Yellow Red House Batt CH Batt Ignition Fusion
1 Off Off On Off Off Off
2 On On On Off Off On
3 Off On On Off Off Off
4 On Off On Off Off Off
5 On On On Off Off Off
6 Off Off Off On Off Off
7 On Off Off On Off Off
8 Off On Off On Off Off
9 On On Off On Off Off
10 On On Off On On On
11 On Off Off On On Off
12 Off On Off On On Off
13 Off Off Off On On Off
14 On On On On Off On
15 On Off On On Off Off
16 Off On On On Off Off
On Off On On On Off
Off On On On On Off
On On On On On On
Bottom line:
1. seems like cutting either wire kills fusion
2. Will work from either, or both house and Chassis battery
On HS batt only don't need ignition
On CH batt only need ignition on
With both batt connected works without ignition on
Alex seems correct that removing Yellow (or even the red) seems sufficient. I removed both as both have power unless both batteries are off line.
Thanks Guys, another fun Saturday morning

Just updating the list of pending items:
Pending mods:
- Remove and replace chrome side trim. Waiting of parts to arrive from Airstream
- Add bathroom light controlled by normal switch... another mod inspired by John -Need to look again to see if I can find the same light that is in there controlled by the Flywire and just install a second one, so at least it looks all the same. Switch ordered
- Prime Design - Rear Door Access Ladder
- Install cut-off switch for solar panels. Thank you Mike!
- Make the covers for the side windows with Reflectix
- Redo the cover of the foldable bed. I need to round the corners that I forgot to do and are damaging the vinyl. Will recover each piece of wood panel separately in a different material (cloth and beige color). Got everything that I need for this task. Lazy since kids have stayed at home during the last times we have gone out...I see a trend here...
- Buy and install a drain valve for the fresh water tank
- Install the ShowerMi$er.
- RakAttach swing-away hitch - size large.
- Fridge ventilation modification. Fridge has been working fine... so this is kind of getting lower and lower in the priority list.

I keep getting farther behind on the list. You are adding things way faster than I am doing them. Just finished modifying the arm divider between the coach and the side chairs. Lots of working with different options of stuffing configuration but found one that seemed to work.
I also ended up getting a router and rounding the edges.
Main issue I had was making the stapling look the same. I cut off the top portion where one or two staples used to go into the wood but now just wanted to go into foam.
Tested it out the other night..
Worked well.
Did you end up doing anything about the metal frame? That seems to be sticking up highest now that I did the foam on the side arms.

I did not. But keep in mind that we are also using 2" self-inflating high-density foam mattress over it... we sleep comfy since making this mod and adding the mat...

If it is as easy as placing a "T" on the cold water line to recirculate... will be doing next weekend. Will share photos as always

Interested to hear how easy it is to get old ones off. After your post, I noticed mine are loose on the ends but I'm still in warranty and have appointment in JC in May so I'll have them do it this time.

It is not hard to get the trim off. But the VHB tape that sticks on the panel is very difficult to remove.
