My 2013 has no 2nd battery, but does have the 12volt outlet in the base of the driver's seat. Use it quite often.

Wow. Never saw this 12V outlet ) Gonna look tomorrow.
And what is most convenient - it is written that can be used regardless of the ignition key position.

Yes the "hidden" outlet was found, and it can be more usable if not covered by the leatherette seat cover material ))). But any way it is good to know it is there )

at 5K miles, I had our AI aligned by a MB authorized independent shop (the MB dealer couldn't do it originally) A year later, at 15K miles, the inside edges of the front tires were pretty worn. So I replaced them with Michelins, and had it all aligned again (this time the MB dealer did it, but they sent out to a nearby shop)

Recently on our first trip after the alignment, we noticed our hands on the steering wheel vibrate a bit. It's not uncomfortable, but visually very noticeable. I can't remember if they did before? Should the wheel /and hands on it, be perfectly smooth if aligned properly? Or is some, very visible, shaking normal? Or could this even be a balance problem?

Would appreciate some perspective from others.

THANKS

The shaking/vibration you feel on your steering wheel could be from your road surface.

We have always gotten our tires rotated every 5-6,000 miles....10.000 miles is too long, and you will get irregular wear from what I am told.

Our last few sets have been Firestones, and you can go into any Firestone dealer, anywhere in the country, and they will rotate and balance them for free.

Tire rotation is a much easier task on T1N Interstates like yours where all four rims match, in comparison to the NCV3 Interstates that have three different rims for six tires. (According to the Sprinter manual, the spare is never in the rotation).

Marks71, this is your balance problem.
I swapped my front tires to Michelins once I bought my van, and I forced them to redo the balance several times until it's perfect.
Alcoa rims require special attention with balance, and some guys simply do it wrong. It has a big opening and require a big conus adapter which will fit between the balancing rod and your rim to hold it straight, otherwise the result will be shown 00 on the balanvce machine's screen, with wrong weights on the rim.
Go get to re-balanced it right.

Rotating does not eliminate the cause of irregular wear, it merely hides it by wearing the tires evenly. My fronts had mildly excessive outer rib wear and they're now on the back and the wear pattern is almost down to catch the outer rib. These Continentals seem to wear like steel. And ride like that.

Twin mattresses

[QUOTE=GloryBound;1731539]On the Twin we replaced the factory mattresses with custom ones from Handcrafted Mattress Company. A separate 15" piece goes in the middle. This was not a cheap upgrade but it's a real bed. We leave the bed together all the time and use two plastic bins for increased storage.

Did you sell the twin mattresses? We just bought a grand tour EXT and want to remove the whole entire rear bed and convert to twins.

Twin beds

Yes we still have the original mattresses. We are in Maryland. Let me know what you'd like to do?
