Need to Find…

An adapter that will allow for a gas-tight seal between my macerator pump discharge and a standard 4" sewer connection. The so-called "sponge" ring (actually as hard as a hockey puck) provided by the dealer would fit the sewer connection, but wouldn't fit the macerator discharge hose. I'd prefer a screw-on fitting that mates to the threaded plastic ring on around the end fitting on the hose, if anyone knows where I could get one.

My post-retirement travel plans include a couple of parks with full hookups that require a gas-tight sewer connection seal to control odors.

Check with your Airstream dealer. My 2014 came equipped with two different adapters (one is 4") and the rubber ring.

Retirement is awesome, you will really enjoy it.

If you haven't found anything yet I think the supplied reel and attachments come from Shoreline Reels:
Shoreline Reels® | Technology Research Corporation
I don't see the adapters on their website, but try calling them.

They only make the reels, not the hose or fittings. But thanks.

As a side issue, after looking at their spec sheet, I think I see why retracting the hose is always such a finicky process. The spec sheet says it holds 20 feet of 3/4" hose, but my Interstate has 20 feet of 1" hose. In other words, too much hose for the reel. Hmmmm…

If you also have one it could be modified to be gas tight.

Hope this helps,

Mine came with a similar but not identical nozzle, and no sewer cap adapter. Hence the problem. But that one looks like it will work; I'll order one tomorrow.

If you need connection to be gas tight it might be best to use a union joint after the shut-off valve and before the large diameter pipe end cap adapter. Then you could make the connection to large diameter end cap a solid glued joint. Something like this would work.

Forgive my ignorance; but you still need to go run the pump to empty right?

I stayed in FL for a week at a park like this and was afraid to use the city water connection in fear of over filling my grey tank (easy to take a nice long shower when you don't have to ration water). I refill fresh tank when I empty Black & Grey.

Protag..
I have one that has several sizes of pipe threaded on the end.. it sorta tapers. I can get a picture but can't recall the maker... it screws in to every site I have encountered or it will fit as it has an extension on the end of it.. A pic may help.. I actually found it at a KOA campground store...yes, I am surprised too. Do you want me to get you a picture for you? PM please.

Yes, I still need to run the macerator pump to empty the tanks. The only difference is that the hose must screw into the sewer connection, or have one of those donut thingies to seal the sewer connection while the hose is in place. At parks where the campsites are close together, one person's sewer connection is often very close to another person's awning and picnic table, and no one wants to smell sewer gas from their neighbor's open sewer hookup.

I took Boxster's advice and ordered a new hose fitting and adapters from Clean Dump, which is the OEM source that Jackson Center uses (the Clean Dump rep told me so over the phone). Apparently Clean Dump provides all of the adapters to Airstream with each discharge hose kit, but somewhere between Jackson Center and the dealer sometimes they go missing.
