Need replacement key & fob for 2016 Grand Tour

Well, we managed to loose a set of keys for our 2016 Grand Tour. Can anyone please tell me what we need to do to get the replacement keys and keyfob ASAP? Thanks.

Have you checked with Airstream or Mercedes? Seems they would be the place to start to me.

Airstream won't help. Go to a Mercedes dealer and be prepared to spend several $100s.

MB probably the only place but saw some on ebay that would require a replacement uncut blade. Might try a Dodge (former Sprinter dealer) or Freightliner.

Please let us know what you find... the last time I checked, it was about $500 through MB. I didn't run down any potential aftermarket sources. We bought our Interstate used, and it only came with two keys. I'd like to have a third for emergencies.

We lost one of our sets the very first camping trip. We ordered a replacement from Airstream then too it to our local Freightliner to be programmed. Total cost was $120.00.

I'd check ebay. Found one for another vehicle there then took it to the dealer to program. Saved a lot of money.

I had a good posting, but it disappeared when I went to preview the posting.

Good luck Lou

Lost Keys for 2016 Interstate Grand Tour

Thank you, everyone who responded. After a full day of tearing everything apart, the keys were found...but this incident gave us some interesting information to pass on to forum members in case it happens to you.

Mercedes is where you need to go to get replacement keys for your Interstate. We live in Palm Springs, CA so that is where we went. Not sure if these requirements are the same for all Mercedes dealerships, so you might want to check.

You will need to take with you the following:
1. Driver's license (photo ID) or your Passport
2. Registration or copy of your title for the vehicle
3. The vehicle will need to be present when you go because they need to check the VIN against the document and vehicle. If you are unlucky enough to have only one set of keys with you when you loose yours, you will need to have the RV towed to the Mercedes dealership - no exceptions.

The cost they quoted us was $153.00 for the key (folding key/keyfob) and said it would take two to three days to get the key.

The moral to this story is to always travel with BOTH sets of keys to your vehicle - which thankfully we did on this trip. We had been dry camping in Quartszite, AZ with our RV group. If he had to have the RV towed to Phoenix or back to Palm Springs I can't imagine the cost of that added to the $153!

Hope this helps others avoid what could be a very expensive problem.

Now that you have found the key add a TILE to it. Then you can find it via Bluetooth from your phone. We bought the airstream used with only one key. It was very expensive to get Mercedes to program a new one ! "It could take an hour or maybe 5 and once we start we can't stop". Fortunately only one hour was required

I had one of the two keys die. As stated above, they have a very involved process to prove ownership then three days to wait for a new key to arrive then they program it with the vehicle there. They kept the dead key (it was under warranty). It would have been nice to have it as a mechanical spare. But not $300+ nice.
