Colonial Airstream is a great dealer. However, if you're buying new, I strongly recommend you try to buy from your closest Airstream dealer, as you will be spending some quality time with them as you work through warranty issues. A new RV is nothing at all like a new car. There will be things that must be fixed, right out of the chute. In general, I also strongly recommend you buy a gently used recent model year unit that meets your needs instead of buying new. They won't have any more things wrong than a new one, and may indeed have significantly fewer.

I would not be afraid to buy long-distance if they have what you want. not sure I would do it to save a few hundred dollars, but definitely would to have several thousand dollars.

We bought ours at the dealership in LA. That is far from where we live, but we liked the 3 front seat floor plan and silver color that they had in stock and got a good deal since it had been on the lot for a long while. Had otherwise been considering a two-front seat one at Colonial in NJ. Nearest AS dealers to us (125 and 250 miles away) only had 4 front seat models in stock.

The LA dealer managed to ruin the batteries while it sat on the lot for months. I understand that this is a problem at many dealerships. If I had purchased locally I might have tried to get them to replace the batteries. As it was I bought a new set direct from Lifeline and 'ate the $ loss'. That battery experience is the only downside we have experienced from not buying locally. We have stopped by JC three times to have warranty work done. Each time it was done in conjunction with a planned trip, and was not far out of our way. We could have done the warranty work done at one of the neared dealerships, but felt more comfortable having it be a factory repair. Also didn't want to have to make two trips - once to diagnose the obvious problem and order parts and a then a second trip to fix the problem.
