2nd generation of SPRINTER

I had interest also in looking for the video. I did not find it but found this interesting tidbit on Wikipedia!!!!!

"The second generation Sprinter was introduced in Europe in 2006. It was voted Van of the Year 2007 and again in 2008 by Professional Van and Light Truck Magazine. 2012 Information and Fuel Consumption Figures.[3] This generation of the Sprinter is well known for having a problem with rust."

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Those who have one may need to take extra car when cleaning these units. North American only assembled these from kits, so not sure what rust protection was done? I know there has been some problem with the windshield frame area being rust friendly????

The Sprinters that Airstream buys are not reassembled in SC like other Sprinter 3500 cargo vans. Last year at a Sprinter test drive event in Washington, D.C. the MB regional sales manager told me the Airstream Sprinters are shipped fully assembled from Germany to Baltimore and then trucked to Airstream in Ohio. If you pull the data card on your VIN you will see a special code for Airstream delivery. You can get data card from any MB dealer.

In order to avoid import restrictions, a certain amount of the labor that goes into the vehicle has to be American labor. The Airstream Interstates don't need to be reassembled in South Carolina to meet the required percentage of American labor. Airstream takes care of that during the conversion.
