Maxx Fan - Annoying rattle

In my effort to keep my sanity while driving, I need to eliminate all of the squeaking and rattles that I can. The one that is currently driving me crazy is the Maxx fan (ceiling exhaust fan). Even with the lid tightly secured in the closed position, there's still enough play in the mechanism that the fan lid bounces around at highway speeds. My wife is currently driving, and I can see the lid bounce up and down about 1/4 inch. With the bounce comes a rattle. I used to think the rattle was due to the bathroom wall 'pushout', but that is not the case. Anyone else have this problem? Has anyone found a solution?

Thanks,

-Kaylor

YES! I have same problem, but have not been able to stop it. I too messed with the bathroom wall plus the fire extinguisher and the table top storage bracket thinking they were the source. I finally isolated the noise to the Maxx Fan. Mine even has the nylon spacers on the closure mechanism that was a Maxx Fan fix to tighten up the loose play. It's not very loud, but annoying. Hope someone else has some good suggestions.

Mine doesn't rattle if I drive with it fully open. If I start out on a trip with mine closed, by the end of the trip it's open, so I just gave up and now drive with it open. It doesn't leak, even when driving through a thunderstorm.

Watch out when trying to close it tightly; it's easy to over-tighten and strip out the gear on the inner end of the knob.
