Magnum DCLD Pigtail Adapter

Earlier this year we discussed using the Magnum DC Load Disconnect (DCLD) Pigtail Adapter to eliminate the unwanted parasitic drain caused by the Inverter/Charger. The thought was it would be better than the Airstream SB-164 solenoid used to disconnect the Inverter/Charger.

I bought a Magnum DCLD Pigtail Adapter a few months back and finally had a chance to check it out today. What I found was disappointing. I did not see any measureable difference in the parasitic drain with the DCLD installed. My current measuring meters only display to 0.1 resolution, so I can only conclude that the change is less that 0.1A.

The DCLD only disabled the Inverter ON/OFF switch on the remote control panel. The other functions on the remote control panel were still working normally including the back lighting, charger functions and the Battery Monitor Kit (BMK) I have installed.

Bottom line - I'm not installing the DCLD. I had planned to power the DCLD with a separate switch to enable the inverter when needed. It's just not worth the effort for the marginal benefit.

Ah, good to know. Thanks for reporting. I never re-ordered mine and now have a different inverter.
