First of all I would like to say thanks to all you regular contributors. While this is my first post, I bought a used 2013 EXT Lounge back in June and have benefitted tremendously from the many (endless) words of wisdom and advise I have read in this forum.

I have recently run into a problem that I would like to mention here before taking the RV to an Airstream Dealer.

My LPG tank gauge functioned normally for several months after I bought the RV but the last time I used the RV I went to test the LPG tank volume. When I did, it showed a single red light at the bottom which surprised me since I didn't think I had used that much LPG. I went and had the tank filled but it only took 5 gallons so there is obviously something wrong with the gauge...it still showed empty (red light) after a complete fill-up.

Anyone else have any problems like this? Any suggestions?

The LP tank gauges are notoriously unreliable, but yours sounds worse than most. The light on the interior panel are driven by a sending unit that attaches to the analog gauge on the tank. This link is what it looks like.

It's probably worth it to have dealer check it out since there are several possibilities than can cause a zero reading when you have a full tank.

I appreciate the quick response.

I looked at the sending unit last night as I was checking for any LPG leaks. The plastic gauge itself was just hanging by the wires so the gauge seems to have broken free of any attachment. When I touched where the wires from the plastic gauge connected (it looked like a ceramic element) it was almost too hot to hold for very long. I just turned off the solenoid until I can get it in to get it looked at.

We replaced our LPG tank last year and the danged gauge still doesn't work properly despite being newly installed and newly wired. I never know what we have in the tank.

I noticed in our local RV repair place that they have external ultrasound gauges for sale right next to their cash register, suggesting that it's an item that many customers request. They were similar in design to this Truma Level Check gauge and they were not cheap. I don't know if they work. Even if they did, with an Interstate, it would require crawling under the chassis and with a horizontal rather than vertical cylinder, I'm not sure how accurate they would be.
