Okay, I will do that because you suggested it.

Our replacement tires for 11 years have always been Firestone, because Doug liked them.

They have served us well, never a problem.

There are no dual wheels involved, if that makes a difference.

Iím going to have a glass of Sophia Coppola.

Well, dang, the sellers did not waste any time announcing the transaction (see photo below).

Welcome to the world of garnet-stripe owners. And by the way, that garnet color actually has precedent in the Airstream world. Some of the Classics have it, such as the one shown at this link. They weren't all blue, in other words.

Don't let me change your mind if Firestones have worked well for you... I don't recall whether/not the Michelin reviews were from 3500 chassis'.

Welcome to the Garnet Stripe Club! We get so many compliments on ours. Most people think Iím joking when I say it is 11 years old and not brand new. We bought ours in AZ as well.

The other one I was looking at was gold , which is just not really an Airstream color.

I think I will be happy with this...it still has a rear bed with a front kitchen, and I think it will be just fine, actually kind of fun to have the different layout and storage.

And my rose hitch cover will blend in with the outside colors.

Hi Maggie,

I think that interior color is called Savannah and was offered in addition to the Cherry that I have in my 2007. Looks nice!

Thanks, I think so, too.

Iím thinking my rugs will still work in there, and do hope the seat covers fit.

The rear screen may still work, too, tho that rear bench will obstruct it there will still be air flow.

I think there is more storage with this layout...

MAGGIE - I know it is not final until you drive off your rig. But looks like all is in great shape and ready for you. I know you already took other's advice, but just another yes on getting NEW tires (whether 5 on rig or 5 on DOT date code). Tire shops usually won't do repairs on anything past 6 yrs. old, so that ought to scream 'REPLACE before driving out'.

CONGRATS & glad to see you back on the saddle again. And to echo RMKRUM - pics please

I would suggest looking into an ‘agreed value’ insurance policy. It did cost me a bit more, but I wanted to make sure it was really covered as an Interstate not just a Freightliner van. (Even thought it is registered as an airstream interstate)

I got the title/bill of sale from the seller and did the title transfer/plate myself at the local DOL. I had to pay sales tax in California (but no ‘double’ since WA will credit that number). I’m not sure how AZ handles that, but it was pretty easy to do. Saved me a fair amount that they wanted to charge for doing the transfer/plate. Plus I knew it was done (it took me maybe 20 minutes at the DOL, and only that long because I knew the law better than they did and they checked with Olympia on how to charge).

When I got mine I asked them to fill the propane, diesel and water tanks. That made it a lot easer to test everything, plus I didn’t have to figure that out right away. Of course, since you have a long time with essentially the same rig- you won’t have that issue. But it would be nice to start out ready to go.

Good luck!

Insurance policies and rules vary by state. In Texas, IIRC you have to have a bill of sale within 12 months in order to substantiate your claim to an agreed value. After that you can maybe still negotiate such a policy, but the difficulty goes through the roof.

I did not compare the prices of such policies, because I just wanted the extra coverage at whatever the cost, but that would be a good thing to do. As I've mentioned before, my agent is Ron Jarvie of Overland Insurance.

Iím getting new Firestones put on the rig in AZ the end of this week...I donít recall the number but they are very good, ďsmall truck tiresĒ, Jason called them.

The one newer tire on there now is going to be rotated to replace the spare, because who knows how old that is....our spare had never been used nor replaced.

I pick up the check from State Farm this morning, sign over the title , and we are all set up to do a wire transfer for the balance the morning of July 5th.

Moving right along.
