Ladder / Cargo box - Interstate

Has anyone mounted a ladder on their Interstate? And, possibly a low profile yakima or thule locker?

Storage Box

I had this made for my Interstate. I have no room for anything on top of my 2011 Interstate.

Ladders are easy. Finding space on the roof to mount anything else, that's hard. Between the television antenna, the air conditioner, the solar panel, the MaxxFan roof vent, the bathroom roof vent, the awning, and the Sirius XM antenna, there's no room left for any kind of cargo box.

Be advised as well that the high-roof baseline Sprinter 2500 and 3500 both have a weight limit of 330 pounds on the roof (page 284 of the 2011 Sprinter Operator's Manual). That includes everything that's already up there, as well as the cargo carrier you want to mount and its contents. Between the awning and the air conditioner, you're probably already pretty close to that limit.

I notice that there are rails in the roof. There must be some type of roof rack that's is available for factory sprinters.

You could also have a custom rack made to clear all the roof equipment.

Like Protagonist said, there is not much real estate left open up there. Also most of us are getting to a point of maturation in our lives, where we should not be climbing up ladders that are that tall.

Welcome to the forum.

The Airstream brochure shows their floor plan and is available on their website.

But if you want dimensions, the brochure won't show them. For that, you'd have to get your dealer to ask Jackson Center on your behalf. But don't hold your breath waiting. If getting dimensioned floor plans from Jackson Center works anything like getting electrical schematics did when I needed schematics have an alarm system installed, getting the info from Jackson Center is like trying to pull teeth from a bear. Without anesthetic. While wearing boxing gloves.
