iPod connection - 2008 Interstate

This is a MY2008 Freightliner Sprinter. Can anyone verify whether the audio system has provision to connect an iPod/iPhone? Or, do I have to pull the audio system from the dash and connect my own AUX input? This unit has the CD changer if that matters.

WS - Airstream has installed a lot of Sony units in their travel trailers. What about the Interstate?

Does anybody remember Sony selling an mp3 player? They hobbled their car stereos to battle Apple. I'd be glad to hear better news but the add-on iPod adapter for Sony doesn't allow music selection in any manner resembling the iPod's ease of use.

This Sprinter has the standard MB audio system with the CD changer. I have a week to wait until I take delivery so I haven't seen it yet and don't know who makes the audio head unit.

Not sure if this helps but my unit has an IPOD connector in the glove box. When you plug an IPOD into the connector the Mercedes Logo comes up and I can perform some of the IPOD functions using the controls on the steering wheel.

Where is this iPod connector exactly? Is it just a loose cable hanging out? I have looked in my glove box and there is no cable or connector that I can see. Any chance you could get a picture? Also, are you the original owner? If not, maybe the PO installed the connector you have.

You probably have solved the issue by now, but if not, my IPOD cable just hangs loose into the glovebox. I am not the original owner, but he only had it for 14,000 miles and I don't know if he installed the IPOD cable or not. One comment, the volume for the IPOD is not quite adequate for use on the road, so you might consider that if you are going to get a connection installed. Too bad I wasn't paying attention, we were just up in Anchorage for 2 weeks, could have hooked up and checked out your new ride.
