Interstate spotted thread II

The original Interstate Spotted thread, which ran for 5 years, is now closed - why on earth would it have been closed?! That is a great thread, worthy of everlasting life.

Anyway, I spotted a new one today at the Car Tunes which is located on the Gulf Freeway in League City Texas. Silver NCV3 - not one that I have seen around here previously.

Owner, if you are on this forum, please tell us which new stereo components you picked!! We have several folks here who are potentially interested in upgrading, including me!

We were at Silver Falls State Park (Oregon) Monday eve.
There was a 4x4 Interstate a couple of spots down.

POURED rain, but a nice place. I had not been there in years.

I drove to a friend's place in Georgia yesterday... on my way here I saw a silver Interstate heading to Florida on I-75. They were towing a blue Jeep Wrangler with canoes/kayaks... I was driving so no chance to take a photo...

Maybe someone from the forum?

I doubt it. Usually when mods close threads for drift, they announce the reason.

Besides, it wasn't exactly a high-focus thread. Just a bunch of sightings of Interstates and banter about things that weren't exactly Interstates, but maybe we wished our Interstates were a bit more like.

I think I see it and you guys posted in it on 1/14/19 and we're talking about the Earth Roamers. If that's the correct thread there was no warning of possible closure.

They are making changes to the site, requiring email logins, the pages are throwing "not working" messages, I can now log in from desktop but not phone, etc. Maybe they are housecleaning and someone did not see the context of that thread.

It's a bit like the Mods or the Maintenance or the Small Space threads. People may not post on them for a while, but the long-timers know that those threads are there to be used in the future.

Interstate spotted westbound on I-10 between Laplace and Gonzales, Louisiana around 12:15pm on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2019. White late-model with two bikes on a rear rack, and a Florida license plate that reads "RTREK".

This unfortunate son of a Beechcraft King Air was inbound on Houston's Katy Freeway yesterday around 4 p.m.

Seriously, THE world's largest freeway (literally) at THE world's worst time (Friday afternoon rush hour). Poor suffering blastoid. He appeared to have a Texas plate, so he knew what he was getting into, at least. (I was on the Katy only because I had decamped from Austin, and my travel timing was not under my control.)

I just wanted to compliment you on your creative use of the English language. This is a much more difficult challenge than simply dropping the common mouth bombs. You’ve done The Old Man Parker proud! Kudos! [emoji3]

Couldn't get a picture (no dashcam installed and no cell use while driving), but I spotted a silver Interstate eastbound on I-20 about 10 miles east of Vicksburg at noon today. Of course, that means he spotted me, too, as he passed me.

White Interstate in Austin TX... is this owner here on the forum? Because what I see is the awning in its classic FUBAR position (and bungee’d to boot) plus the step extended even though the rig appears to have all doors shut and locked. Someone might need a bit of assistance here.

That hurts to look at esp if you’ve had 4k+ misfortune to have chopped your awning off at one point(:

Extended step is probably not a problem. He no doubt has the step override switch on which leaves the step extended until the engine is started. That switch stays on all the time in my AI. No reason to stress the step mechanism by unnecessarily cycling it while parked.

Spotted right now, at the ball fields in League City TX.

I turned around and went back, just so I could compose this art shot for y'all. Awww, so sweet!!

I am not sure if this is the same one I have seen before on this side of town. Big ol' aftermarket black hitch carrier on the rear of it. Is this the local dude who posted on the garage thread maybe? I don't know.

This morning, I was passed going north on MOPAC expressway by an AI Slate Edition in the strange gray color going north. First I time I have seen that color. Looked like they added some extra solar at the top rear. The color really stands out ... I could go for that color.

I saw a nice silver pretty new model Interstate in Port Angeles, at the ‘town’ Safeway a day or two ago.

I recently installed an OwlCam, which is a souped-up dash cam / security device (if interested, you can read about it in another thread starting at this permalink here).

The OwlCam includes a hands-free video function which will grab and archive 20 second video clips if you shout the words "OK PRESTO!" at it.

As a result of that, I get to claim the first MOVING "Interstate spotted" evidence. Here's a white Interstate passing me on IH-10 westbound around Fannett and Hamshire, TX yesterday. Notice it has no license plate on the back, and no dealer tag either. Our Texas state police will not be sympathetic if they happen to see the likes of it.

Interestingly, the OwlCam does not seem to have captured audio with this clip. It has done so on my other test clips, but my driver's side window had fallen out, and it was extremely loud in the van because it was covered by plastic only. I wonder if programming logic made the camera dump the audio because it was useless anyway??

Silver Interstate spotted in the day parking lot for the ferry to Mackinac Island last week (Tuesday 7/2, I believe), while we were parked in the same lot with ours. Click image for larger version
