Today in Freestone, California we spotted 2006 Airstream Interstate with CA plates. Haven't seen it around before, wonder if it is anyone here?

No photo, but I spotted a silver AI for sale on US 290, by the highway, about 4 miles east of Dripping Springs, TX.

I had noticed the AI sitting by a business for the last year or so. It was seldom moved during that time.

I stopped today and spoke to the son-in law of the owner. It is a 2013 Lounge with less than 33,000 miles. Exterior looks great except a dent near the top of the curb-side rear door. Looks like it was backed into something when open. I didn't ask a price.

I have no interest in this AI. Just posting it here for interest. I told the fellow about the AirForum classifieds, so it may show up here.

My son had college orientation so we took the AI (stayed in hotel though) and spotted this AI. We had a good chat about the AI’s and they were also from Texas.Click image for larger version

Well, I’m going to break the thread rules and NOT post the pic of the silver Interstate that we parked next to yesterday at the Skyline hiking trail in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park (one of the most famous trails on the continent). That Interstate was occupied by an older lady who was waiting for her party to return from the trail, from which dogs are excluded (I also hung back with our dog).

Instead I’ll post this pic of the Safari Condo that subsequently parked beside us. It was owned by a francophone couple who had gotten it about a year ago. They were not inclined to be chatty and my French is really bad after decades of non-use in the United States, so I don’t know any more than that. This was the first one I’d seen up close in the wild, and they are beautiful rigs.

Our travel guest jokes with respect to me, “If she runs off the road, it won’t be for any reason other than she gets distracted by another van that she likes.”

:-)

Why is it that every Interstate that I spot is driving too fast?

IH-84 WB @ Taconic Pkwy.

I lived just off the Taconic in the late 1950s. near Poughkeepsie. Back then, I couldn't use the Taconic because I had a Tempest wagon. A tempest sedan would have been OK, but just because mine was squared off with a tailgate, it was restricted. Talk about stupid traffic rules.

I had to take the developer to NYC to sign for our mortgage at a bank there. I had to trade cars for the day with a co-worker in order to make the trip.

May have something to do with the high perch...the sensation of speed is less versus something low to the ground, I was once scared s**tless as a passenger in a MG Midget but was told “relax man, it’s only 55mph!”[emoji23]

AIR99 - Yes! 35mph in a go-kart 3" off the ground felt like 100mph in my sedan

Staying on-topic :
Spotted this T1N, so ugly puke green (no sure if AI or just regular van). If they paid $99 for that paintjob, they overpaid by $100

Then followed this IDENTICAL to mine AI NCV3 for awhile. Weird seeing "my own" move down tbe road from way back. Now I know how much blocking I create behind me

Traveling across the country this week, I saw a T1N Class B with the FEDEX regalia still in place. Obviously the owner had stealth in mind. The FEDEX markings looked authentic, but one could look at the roof and know that it was no delivery van. It left me wondering if he’d somehow gotten hold of a non-defaced FEDEX surplus, or had replicated the paint job himself.

It's one of many interesting stealth techniques I've heard of. I wonder if a FedEX van parked somewhere after hours would draw some attention on it's own, however.

They all think they're going unnoticed.

3bcamper caught one of these on camera recently. I saw one today at Schoodic CG in Acadia NP. It's a Westfalia coach on a MB chassis. Talked with the owner who said 400 of these were imported from Germany in 2007 and given an Airstream badge. He reports there is a "Westies" West and East group that get together sometimes. Truly a fine example of creative indoor living. Extra tall interior allows an upper bunk to slide back into place above the midship couch, which can also make into a 2-person bed. Bathroom in back, galley and pantry just ahead of that. Wish I could have taken more pics to share.

NOTSTOCK - That's an AS? I see it's a Ford and looks like the Econoline van that I had in mid-80s. Did it come from AS converted that way? With 4x4 too? Other than what looks like a custom paintjob. Though not as fancy as your paintjob

Two in Yellowstone

Our Tayara on the left. A 2017 Lounge on the right. This park is full of sprinter based vans, some custom, most other brands. This is the only Interstate I confirmed.

We also saw an Earth Roamer, but couldn't stop to photo or chat.
